R33/R34 Turbo Auto Limit?

Hey guys,

I just wanted to ask something regarding the Auto boxes in R33's and R34 Turbo's. What is the power range where they start to require strengthening/rebuilding? I've seen some 4door R34GTT's for 21k online so i was wondering where the auto would start failing.

I just blew mine at 228 rwkw.

i do quite a few track days too though so maybe if i didn't it would still be alive.

The box is quite strong. The biggest killer is overheating (true of any auto) so if you add a cooler, and a shift kiy (to increase gear change speed and hence reduce friction and heat) they should see you through quite well.

pardon my ignorance but whats involved in fitting a shift kit interms of cost and labour? What does it actually do? From what I've heard, the R34 transmission coolers are pretty efficient. But interested in shift kit though....
