URMINE,

I hope you were joking, because between Dazza and Jonesy they collectively know dick about what the f#ck is going on in F1. I stay up to watch F1, and these two jokers used to piss me off so much with there inane drivel.

Channel 10 do motorsport very well, and while I agree the Darrel Beatie is useless, Sheene is a legend. I'm sure there will be a marked improvement in the broadcast.

i doubt it.. fair enough dazza knows **** all but he is just a good character.. bit like murray.. he to knew **** all.. but it makes it interesting..

but to say jones doesnt know anything about f1 .. hahahahhah he is about the only one who does know anything.. always gives a good point of view when analaysing crashes and doesnt talk bullshit.. he was a world champ no one in channel 10 is..

u wont be getting anything intelligent popping out of the mouth of crompton or beattie or any other wannabe champ..

cant get any worse then listening to brudle and blundell or whatever there names..

BRING BACK MURRAY :D

Jones isn't that bad. Technically I mean. I prefer the technical talk over jiberish. Martin's good. But Muzza is still the voice of F1. Will take a few years to get over him. :D

I don't see anyone in the Channel 10 lineup that comes close to Jones. Will have to wait and see.

I have to say murray walker is a legend (voice of F1), he sometimes lost the plot but i didn't mind if anything it was more entertaining.

the only thing that used to annoy me with jones and eastlake is them speaking crap coming back from the ad breaks while the race is going.

apart from the above i thought jones most of the time knew what he was talking about (if an F1 champion doesn't know who would??).

If they get woods and sheen to commentate, then I'll be protesting to get f1 back to channel 9.

I loved to listen to Murray too, but Martin Brundle has a much better grasp of the technical aspect of the cars then anyone else commentating. I too agree that we want the ITV commentary, with Channel 10 providing a brief intro.

I'm sure that Jones does know about F1, but his ability to convey this is not particularly good, especially when seated next to a moron like Dazza.

hahaha that sites a classic skyline33!

Memorable moments from Channel 9's F1 coverage:

- Delays for any Championship-deciding race.

- The 2000 French GP tape not rewound back enough.

- Parc Ferme being cut and pasted, or worse yet, never shown.

- Leaving the 1999 Australian GP coverage to leave for a pre season Rugby League match, getting barely any of the podium celebrations and post race press conference from Eddie Irvine's first ever Grand Prix victory.

- The slow disappearance of Friday practice highlights, late on the Friday night of the Australian Grand Prix.

- The lack of qualifying for 16 out of 17 races. Still the only country in the world to host a Grand Prix, and yet not receive any Qualifying sessions.

- Lack of shots of the drivers and crews on the grid, Channel 9 instead opting to watch AJ and Eastlake mumble about in the studio.

-The 'In The Pits' segment being shown every now and then.

- Channel 9 spending more money (again!) on a new set, when other parts of the coverage needed more attention.

- Lack of visual reports about up and coming Australian drivers. Reporting results is all mad and wonderful, but if your world was limited to television, you wouldn't know what James Courtney or Rob Nguyen looked like.

- Eddie McGuire hosting the Australian Grand Prix coverage.

- Satellite difficulties during races. Happened to often for comfort.

- Lengths of ad breaks, particularly during live races.

- The 2000 Austrian GP, Channel 9 deciding at the last minute to change the telecast time from 10:30pm to 11:20pm!

- Eastlake and AJ cryptically giving away the result of the 2000 Japanese GP, despite there being a pathetic 7 hour delay for those on the East Coast.

- AJ discussing his next adventure, whether it be his auction or his V8 Supercar racing.

- Catching up to the ITV commentary just before the five red lights turn on, because AJ and Eastlake continue to talk, despite the fact that the ITV commentary have been talking for several minutes before the warm up lap.

- Cutting off Murray Walker on his last ever Formula 1 commentary at the 2001 USA GP, to go to a commercial break.

- The 2001 Brazilian GP - the Channel 9 director falling asleep, as ITV went to an ad break, but then reneged, when David Coulthard decided to pit (in what ended up being the turning point in the race).

- The German GP broadcast at 12:40pm. Never mind waiting for 60 minutes to be shown at 8:30pm instead of the usual 7:30pm, but also a 3 hour movie!

- The 2002 Hungarian GP breaking a new ad-during-telecast record, with 8, only to be beaten four weeks later by the 2002 Italian GP telecast, which had 9 ad breaks!

- The 2002 French GP delay, and then showing no podium, no press conference, all for the 7am news!

- The 2002 British GP delay, some seven hours.

aaah the memories

    • Hey guys. I have a 400R on its way to Australia from Japan currently and have a few questions I’m hoping others may be able to help with.   Wondering if anyone here has had any luck getting the Sat nav unit to work in Australia!? Assuming the Stereo is as simple as a band expanded and tv won’t work?  Seeing as they’re based off a Q50 which is Aus delivered is there any way to link that system to the nav? Nav modules and head unit are different part numbers and appear slightly different at the rear with plug ins etc. can I put my xtrail sd card into the rv37 and will that convert the maps or update to Australian? Has anyone got any advice here?     also has anyone fitted the factory remote start and Security system once it’s landed in Australia? I put an enquirey to Nissan Japan in via a third party, and they suggested it needs a Nissan Japan dealers device to setup and couldn’t guarantee if one here could do it or not. They can supply and I can physically fit it but to setup I would need a dealers device. Any information here would be appreciated also. I’ve seen one here with it fitted already prior to leaving Japan at a dealer/inporter, so clearly passes compliance and works when fitted Japan and doesn’t need changing here.      also, does the tyre inflation sensors work here? Does anything change with them when the vehicle arrives? Where are they actually situated? I’ve read they have batteries and they need to changing at times and seems like resetting involves the nav system?    any help here would be appreciated and any other aust specific information to help would be great. Looking forward to see what the current generation skyline is like and eager to see how many of the gadgets can be utilised here.  Thanks in advance
    • Do need to take it with a pinch of salt. One of the adapter failures, they clearly had setup issues with the flywheel.  One of the slipping ones I spoke to and it was pretty clear the throwout was riding, rather than fix, just swapped to a new clutch.    These clutches are being put in anything from 5k offroad 4x4 beaters, GR yaris, 500hp commodores to 1200hp barra monsters. Bound to be some issues in some of them when they are not a simple bolt in affair due to the changes in height.    There is a lot going on in this picture and unless I did the job myself no way to tell what really happened.
    • I did this mod in 2019  You just have to modify the top bracket of the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU so it sits more upright and closer to the back seat and run a good quality positive battery lead from the engine bay, the negative lead i just bolted down to the body in the boot.
    • Damn... Not the feedback I want to hear.
