i was taking out my fuel pump today for the first time, when i found this in my petrol tank..

can anyone tell me what it is? because i dont know if im meant to have a giant dildo in my fuel tank.

On the far right it looks like it has a rod?maybe it's the float level for the fuel gauge?

yeah im thinking its the level sender. its not hollow, when i shaked it around a bit it sounded like it had 2 things in there.

ok guys.. its definately the fuel sender.. ive had problems with my fuel gauge so im pretty sure it being loose was the culprit to this..

now to mount the bastard back onto its bracket.

I don't think it's the level sender - that's not bigger than a ciggy packet. And it will still (hopefully) be attached to the pump bracket. If there was a problem with the fuel gauge, then this doover is interfering with the operation of the sender's float.

But I have NFI what the thing really is.

ok well ive clicked it back into position... it sits with the side with the wires pointing upwards... it looks a little something like this..

my fuel gauge isnt playing up anymore.. its showing the true level now.

before it would stay on full till there was half a tank then drop.

so its all good now
