maybe also the fact that, most ppl dont seem to want a modded skyline, purely due to knownin its been trashed or ppl just want a fresh start and want to mod their line by themselves... I have seen heaps of really gd bargains, but i believe most people get pushed away, when they see a whole heap of mods been done..

Then again, thats just what I think and i could be wrong..

I find issue with the "modded its been thrashed" sometimes.. well mb not that... the modded its going to **** it ..

Ok, now an exhaust, is probably actually going to reduce the backpressure, probably reducing temperatures at the turbo, and possibly increasing turbo life.

An aftermarket ECU in conjunction with boost controller, if adequately tuned may actually reduce stress on the engine by preventing missfiring, overfueling, etc when the power is raised. Would you rather somebody who had just kept the stock ecu "as is" and tampered with the boost at some point in stupid ways via say a bleed valve (indetectable)?? or somebody who had done it properly??

Now the key point is - how can you really "thrash" a car in Australia's main cities? 60km/hr speed limits, 100km/hr highways, etc.. even if you accelerate as hard as possible at every opportunity, if you "thrashed" the car around, redlined it in every single gear all day every day I doubt you're soon well well over the speed limit. Trashing a skyline is like redlining it to 250km/hr.. Its not even that possible that often!

Now as long as its been adequately tuned, and fluids changed, etc - I don't think there would be much of an issue. These cars were made for a bit of pasting, and that is why the engines are overengineered to take a lot more power, and handle a few stupid things.

Track racers? its hard enough to fill numbers even at your average track day, through so many road users scared to push their cars, blow up an expensive RB26dett, spend the money, etc, etc. Its not a big thing here in Australia. Maybe 1 in 50 skylines here would actually see a racetrack, drift day or official drag strip, if that..

But I am sure it can be disputed of course... and it depends on the level of modifications afterall.

    • All I can say Duncan is good luck and I hope that Neil did not run any E85 in Cheryl. I have recently experienced the full spectrum of fuel tank issues in my R33's that had been caused by E85 and contaminated fuel. When you take the cover off the top of the tank and have a look inside you will get an understanding of how easy it will be. Best case situation is clean fuel with minimal contamination. My GTR was like this and it was a very simple operation to just grab the fuel pump carrier bracket and slide it up and out of the tank. My three GTS_T's had different levels of fuel contamination that was probably caused by E85 in the fuel.  In the worst case all of the metal components in the tank had rusted to the point where there were pieces of rusted metal swirling around in the tank. This required the removal of the exhaust, the tailshaft, the complete rear cradle and the fuel tank. The components in the tank were that rusted that it took days to get the fuel pump carrier and the mounting brackets out of the tank. When the tank was finally cleaned, everything inside the tank had to be replaced. With the tank all back together I could then reinstall it in the car along with everything else that had to come out. Good luck and I hope that you find a clean tank.
    • It is a two door. It is black and also still has the OEM wheels and stereo. Exact model would be KR_R32RGFEL_SS According to GTR-Registry.com is a 2 Door Coupe; RB20DE; 2WD no HICAS; MT.F5; (11L) Projector Headlamps and Fog Lights; (12_) Electronic Active Full Auto Air Con (Climate Control); (13-14SS) V Selection -- Which seems to be accurate description of my variant. Will try to upload a few pictures soon. The OEM wheels look like the below image. Image is taken from the goo-net-exchange website.
