Quick thread - as indicated in another thread, I'm old ;). Not really but me and names just never works.

Who from the forum was at the track day on the 18th June(club track)?

I was in the silver 33 right at the far end of the covered parking with the abomination of wiring flapping around in the passenger footwell. That said it went really well other than one small software bug, so new ecu will finally allow the more serious mods to be planned.

Nice to have 3 other ricelines all in a row and at least one more further down. Also interesting to see the conversion on the 33 and how well it ran, most impressive.

For interest my best for the day was 1:06:14 running standard boost (another story in iteslf) and some new advans :)

Thanks anyways,

D

Bummer, Hello stranger, haven't seen you out at QR in ages. I have heard all about the tricky ECU business though. I will be out there again soon.......just waiting for the finishing touches on the GTR......

Nice time btw...... Good to see the silver beast is still going strong...... And no more trips to the gravel trap :D

Thanks Glenn. Was nice meeting you guys and getting all inspired again to seriously do some work to my neglected car.

And Jlnewton, yeah it's been like 18 months since I have been out there, strangely the same amount of time I have been working 6 days a week. But with the new ecu the designer was pushing me to get out there for a tuning day so I guess that's all I needed. Was great to be back on the tarmac, and with the new tyres the gravel was never looking that close (not as close as last time anyway). Will be great to see this GTR of yours, and even more so chasing it around the track. Please send me a PM when your heaing out - it's not something I'm going to miss :D

Cheers,

D

woah, they are all coming out of the wood work now :P hehe

They have level 1 & 2 sprints on the sprint layout and this year have added sprint days on the clubman layout. It good variety. And if you are lucky enough to get time off mid week, the private track days are even better.....

The more the better, we have struggled to get any good numbers of the QLD SAU people to come out to track days, its a little dissappointing. We need to establish a team trackday here in QLD too :P.

The privately run track days are the go, all day, plenty of track time, and usually run the sprint layout, clubman layount and the national circuit.

I think a Darlington park and a Morgan park day should be thought of too. And Lakeside if it ever gets through the red tape struggle. . . . .

Hey 46n2, great to see around, not literally of course. Still having fun down south no doubt ;)

Oh yes, please reopen lakeside - a good 2 minutes up the road, just a touch closer than QR. That said, QR is a bit kinder if you do head off the black stuff.

Why aren't you guys in the QLD Time attack challenge results?QLD Time Attack challenge results? Is that sprint circuit the same one that we used to run on in the olde days? is the sprint circuit the same as when I did my 1:07? weren't you guys all running 1:03's and 4's around the sprint circuit last i was there???

Hey dave :) good to hear that your back on track

We'll be in town for one night only (Sunday the 10th / Mon 11th) on the way back to the land of freeze (sub 2degrees C this morning :chairshot ). I think the stopover will give us a chance to "re-climatise" from our holiday in the sun.

PM me your mobile numbers (i've since lost most of the numebrs of friends from brissy  ) and we'll catch up for a beer if you guys are free :P

This sounds the goods. I'll be self employed when I get there so midweek will be great.
...and when i get back up there, I'll save up my sick days for just such occaasions ;)

    • Convert to dual filament bulb   FWIW, it will look odd - I dare say a bit dumb as it looks like your flasher relay has shit the bed.
    • If the RB20 box in the car is a push clutch, then yes, you will need to deal with the pull clutch on the turbo box. You either buy a pull clutch and don't use the old one, or you do the things needed to convert the turbo box's clutch arrangement over to push. Which is a bit of a f**karound. "Making" a custom tailshaft is the easy part. But you will need to source the front clip yoke - the bit that goes into the output of the gearbox. These are not as easy to find. They are out there, but they don't grow on trees the way that they used to.
    • Indicator bulbs are way too bright to use as a "corner marker" (we call them parking lights too). Sure. Go ahead and do it. But realise that you wil need to come up with all your own wiring to do it, as no-one will have a standard howto worked out for Skylines. It's just a matter of abandoning everything that Nissan have done and starting from scratch. You'd probably be better off retrofitting tailght/brakelight globe bases into the front indicator housings and using the taillight circuit for your corner marker and the brake light as the indicator. You'd need to work out how to kill the marker circuit while the indicator is flashing, otherwise it won't flash on-off, just bright-less bright.
    • Hi. A little bit of an update. It maybe(hope not) looks like i would need a new tranny(it would be "maybe" a cheaper or better option anyway) So i need some info. I know i need a different propshaft(i can make custom one) LSD is not a problem cuz the engine will be still(for now) N/A RB20. So if i buy RB25DET NEO tranny...is there something else i need? I read something about push/pull type but i do not know if i need to "change" something or i can just plug n play onto my engine a go? Thanks for the advice
    • Good morning all, Bit of a random question but figured I’d finally throw it out after wondering for a long while. Before I start, I'm hoping to do this purely out of personal preference. I think it would look better at night, and don't mind at all spending a few hours and dollars to get it done. I've copied this from a non-Skyline specific forum, so I apologize for the explanation of our headlight switch setup that we all know. Here we go: Zero lights (switch off) Parking lights (switch position 1) being a rectangular marker on the outside of the housing, my low beam being the projector in the centre (position 2), and a high beam triggered by my turn signal stalk. Most North American cars I’ve owned of this era have power to the amber corner (turning indicator) light as part of the first switch (parking lights). I’d love to have these amber corners receive power when the headlights and parking lights are on (headlight switch), yet still blink when using the turn signal which is of course a separate switch. Hopefully I’ve explained my question correctly. Is anyone aware of a way in which I might be able to achieve this? Thanks in advance
