Would Any One Know How To Get On A Datalogit Forum Without Having  Purchased One, Or To Find Out More Info Than What Is On The Web Site?

What do you want to know? We use RB20, RB25, RB26 and SR20 Datalogit software.

just how much easier and haw many extra features does the datalogit give over using the hand contoler? Would you also know how many extra outputs you get and there programing features

You want me to list them all?

OK, but only the ones that you can't access via the Commander

Inlet air temp fuel map

Water temp fuel map

RPM acceleration fuel map

Cranking Injector dwell map

Water temp versus boost fuel correction

Inlet air temp versus boost fuel correction

RPM Load Point table

AFM load point table

AFM voltage table

Ignition versus water temp correction

Ignition versus inlet air temp correction

Ignition dwell versus RPM correction

Ignition versus battery voltage correction

Ignition versus boost correction

Individual injector trim

Injector lag versus battery voltage correction

Via the Datalogit there is also;

Antilag via injection

Antilag via ignition

Intercooler spray

Basically anything that you want to turn on or off

Then there is the logging

Every standard sensor is logged

Plus 4 others (eg; lambda, brake temperature, suspension travel etc etc)

That's from memory, please excuse me if I forgot any:cheers:

RPM Load Point table

AFM load point table

AFM voltage table

All of which are important once you reach the limitations of the stock afm/load point base map setup.

Swapping to a Z32 or VH41/Q45 AFM does zilch in its own.

Software is required.

There's also the A/C and non a/c overheat fan temp switch.

I'm going to have it so my A/C automatically turns on the overheat fan when engine temps are over 86degree's.

It will save me wiring up a relay to the a/c to automatically switch on the fan.

I don't like kick starting old threads, but still feel it's a worthwhile question.

It appears that the Datalogit software performs much the same as the Power FC Excel does. Does anyone have direct knowledge about their similarities/differences? Is there any difference in functionality?

I understand that a PFC with the incorrect model handpiece will not allow FC Excel to run correctly. There does not seem to be much info about Datalogit in this regard.

Comments?

the power excel software is not suited to every model powerfc. there is some code in the older powerfcs that makes them incompatible with the power excel software that you can now buy. this chart shows which older models wont work with the power excel software.

http://members.dodo.com.au/paul/pics/power...ility-chart.jpg. i believe datalogit worked a way around it as you can see on their site they have specific versions for some of the older powerfc firmware. power excel is one version suits all (handy feature). whereas datalogit is specific to each engine model so they worked around the "code" that made it (power excel software) not work.

>> It appears that the Datalogit software performs much the same as the Power FC Excel does. Does anyone have direct knowledge about their similarities/differences? Is there any difference in functionality?

i've seen and used (well in testing environment only, not a real car) the power excel software its in japanese so its a little tricky but it appears to do the same stuff. if anything datalogit seems better and easier to use as its been actively developed based on user feedback and road tuning etc. plus it also has input from wideband sensors and aux inputs whereas the power excel (and cable) doesn't at least that i can see anyway. not sure what the latest retail version of the fc pro software is like, as the one i have could be a little old

>> Does the datalogit software allow you to tune via a laptop?

either the power excel or datalogit will allow you to tune via a laptop. plug the cable dongle in, plus the serial end into a pc and adjust as needed. both can do it in realtime

Here's what else I've found, again from other members, reading docs, browsing other car clubs etc.

There's a guy in japan who has fairly extensive development on the powefc code and firmware and even worked out (no idea how) the schematics for the powerfc cable so it would work with the fc pro software. ive looked through the diagrams and what not, i think there may be a few of these boxes in circluation also as I saw pics of a guy in melb who had one (calvynts) who has a bnr33 powerfc with the cable/box (or it may have been the pics of kashima's site).

ive made kashima's cable and ive been told (after the box ws built) that it wont work without the PIC processor code put onto the chip so were kinda stuck now, we have a box but no code on the chip. i will keep hunting around but dont like my chances of it working. the code on the processor chip well it proceses, copies data packets from the hand controller ps2 port on the FC and echo's it (I assume) to the pc serial port.

There's another guy in Germany who has been developing his own powerfc software and cable/dongle box. i have tested with this version (not on a real car) and have had a play around with it and it looks great. here's what the author has said

>> These are the scheduled release dates for the software:

>>

>> 07/17/05: Honda

>> 07/31/05: Mazda

>> 08/07/05: Nissan

>> 08/14/05: Toyota

>> 08/21/05: Subaru

>> 08/28/05: Mitsubishi

>>

>> FC Tune is free and is a drop in replacement for FC Edit. I will also permanently add new features to the software and i will install a forum on fctune.com where everyone can request features.

>> The box should be ready in august. There will be 2 versions, one that is just a direct connection between the PC and PFC and one with an additional connector for the Commander and 2 Step Revlimiter, Anti-Lag, Gear based ignition and injection, Shift light, Boost Switch, Analog inputs that can used to correct ignition and injection (EGT etc.). Target price is USD 199. Compared to the USD 399 for the Datalogit that's a fair target price i think and a 50% drop for a better box and software (i hope you like FC Tune better than FC Edit).

So it can work with the datalogit cable dongle box, the power excel cable/dongle box and his own custom one he is making, so if you own datalogit then your set!

Here's some links to the preview versions and a stock map for the honda b16a as I dont have any nissan maps for it yet

http://www.fctune.com/download/B18Cv4.10.Dat

http://www.fctune.com/download/FCTune_0_52.exe

Thats all the info I have. cheers for feature list SK will add them to the powerfc faq
