***Theft warning for all R34 owners***

Something that has come to light during the recent week, R34's are currently being targeted by thieves.

I'd urge everyone to re-evaluate any alarm system their cars have and put in place any effective means of keeping the car secure.

You should all assume that your keys are available and have been copied, this is the general idea of what security measures are required in the future.

QLD specific in my case, but it still pays to be aware who could possibly have a copy of your keys and intimate details of your car, remember in everyones case, someone has had your car before you get hold of it.

Interesting. I never really considered how many people have had access to my keys and could easily have copied them during that time. Thanks for pointing out my naievete.

I think we are all guilty when it comes down to being nieve on this subject. I know I am and I never thought about this type of thing till Dan wrote this thread.

I gota admit, I thought I was over protective of my car by a long way. Seems not. Its rarely out of my sight, or someone I knows site. Always locked, everything always covered. Parked away from other cars so they dont run in to it, open doors on to it, but not so far away that anyone can break in without been seen. I always put the factory steering lock on too. Seats back over amps. Rug over cds etc. Steering wheel cover just to cover up its a sports steering wheel. Anything to make my car just that little bit less attractive over the car next to it.

The Best Way to stop some one is put a good set of locks on your car.

I swear by these locks, I have had them on most of the cars that I have owned.

I dunno Mike... I'll have to bring it along some time and try it... Works for the solex locks we use at work and we have ~200 different combos...

all sets of the locks come with 4 keys 2 normal use one with a light in it & a emergency/master key, the master key is only for the 1 set of locks, each set of locks is different. Trust me I have had about 5 cars with them still on lol & ended up keeping the emergency key once or twice.

Well its really easy to code normal locks, hell I could do a standard lock with my eyes closed.

(another thing that could of been done is all the locks have a similar lock profile but vary enought to stop one secondary key being used on another lock, meaning the master Primary key will cover the whole 200 locks, I thinks thats right lol)

But the solex locks are another story all together.

It's a wierd setup... It looks like a normal solex key but it has a spring type mechanism integrated in it... I'll try and get some pics of it come Monday...

lol thats why adrian the locks you must have at work drop a pin in the middle of the lock allowing the key to push the full set of code tags out of the way that the only way I can think it would work as for the normal ones there solid centers & there for single set coding
