Repainting inlet plenum

Hi

I want to clean up the inlet plenum (RB26) and respray it.

Do you need to have some sort of temperature resistant paint, or will any old paint do ?

I used the hi temp stuff,think it was engine block paint from memory.

Was going to get it polished but this stuff has been good,hasn't chipped or flaked yet.

a automotive 2 pack will work. You will have a better colour selection then

Anyone considering doing this, take alot of thought before you pull the plenum off. Ive taken it off a few times already and its not as simple as it looks! Very fidelly and time consuming. Unless your very experienced in mechanics i wouldnt attempt it, as you risk having an air leak (high idle) as a result. Both surfaces must be completely clean of old gasket before refitting with new ones. I used an engine enamel to paint mine but was later told i should have first sprayed on an 'etch' primer. Apparently this improves bonding.

JiMiH, I'd personally use the duplicolour metal-cast paints, can get great anodized looks, and it's rated to 500 degC.
