THE (ONLY) DECA results/photos/experiences/reviews/recollections/brags thread

Hang on, you mean I was close even though I was mainly just hamming it up?

DAMMIT, I'm off to buy some real tyres then.

The day would not have been the same if you had been too serious and trying to punch out times:)

Thanks to all who helped in organising the weekend! I think it's safe to say that everyone that competed (and spectated) had a ripper of a day!!!

On a sadder note..... The STi did beat the TX5.... Damn you Aaron and your seemingly bottomless pit of money!!! :chairshot

Who would have thought that a 1.4 ltr Margarita would cause a man to want to climb the highest object around..... Go the X-trail! hope they haven't noticed the hot water marks

Also a thanks to the other club that came along, it was great!!!

Perhaps i should have read the Supp Regs a little closer...i thought there was a prize for "Car most likely to blow up" , i would have been in there with a chance along with Shiv, the wonderful sound of ignition cuts at +8,000rpm:)

TEH TELSTAR CAN NEVAR LOOOOOOOSE! hahaha, there are a few fangers who are now getting a serve cos your times were better than theirs :P

bottomless pit of money? Man, I wish - if that were the case I'd have a stronger box, LSD's, a 2.4 litre stroker and an HKS GT2835!

With that said, I guess there are benefits to being in the parts import game :D

You did well man, you just gotta sort out some decent tyres before you come to Winton, so you can get your wang out and shake it all about :(

Nah mang it twas i!!

I cbf doint the short track fast, nor the motorkaha, i was just having a ball hanging the Camry coupe sideways on the pan that concentrating on times.

heheh

Dave and Marky: Speed and accuracy are for showoffs like Snowy :(

Your 'form over function' approach was certainly enjoyable to watch - and the super taxi was GREAT FUN to throw around!

Thanks again Dave, and thanks to ah... your tyre supplier! :D

Yes the top players were great to see, but the day was made so much more enjoyable by the likes of you guys - and of course Pete's KnightRider reverse-turns - hamming it up and having fun. That's what it's all about :P

I MADE IT HOME!!!!!!

well eventually... after dying 45km's outta melb and waiting for a towie (thanks jack for organising it) i finally got home around 9:30pm (left at like 5:30) hehehe

gonna be a VERY expensive trip to Race Pace now... but meh. I dont give a rats arse

Was definately worth every second that i missed sleep.

Hope no-one has any food posioning from the BBQ or anything nasty :D

Hats off to everyone that got their asses outta be and up there on friday or Sat.

Andrew/Chris to effort for making the day brilliant for everyone

Hopefully everyone enjoyed themselves so much that the next DECA day will be even better :P

Ok - final results.

Unfortunately the GT-R can apparently lose.

Congrats to Blaise for a fine performance all day long. But pretty close in the end with 3 cars covered by 3.4s after 9 events.

errrr... how the hell did craig moor (number 36) get timed, he was the one with the VIP lexus :D and he only got to DECA at lunchbreak

    • im sure mine stays in gear and wont shift unless i shift it? and for sure it wont go back to Auto mode if its put in manual mode? if i use paddles but its still in D then of course it goes back to auto mode. but yer if its in -+ and i use paddles it will not auto change gears what so ever and i have tried this. it will gear down if at a stop though which is kinda nice but goes back to 1st gear not D. i think it used to be like this with imports aswell i dunno if its really like it anymore like when i got my R33 it had alot of JDM options which local cars didnt have. Now local cars have kinda caught up even the lower models. but yer transfer rates and other things makes it almost on par.
    • Very decent bit of kit. Definitely black it out I reckon.
    • Because people who want that are buying euros. The people with the money to buy the aftermarket heads and blocks aren’t interested in efficiency or making -7 power, they’re making well over 1,000hp and pretty much only drive them at full throttle  best way to way make money is know your customer base and what they want and don’t spend money making things they don’t want.
    • It's not, but it does feel like a bit of a missed opportunity regardless. For example, what if the cylinder head was redesigned to fit a GDI fuel system? It's worth like two full points of compression ratio when looking at modern GDI turbo vs PFI turbo. I'm pretty reliably surprised at how much less turbo it takes to make similar power out of a modern engine vs something like an RB26. Something with roughly the same dimensions as a -7 on an S55 is making absolutely silly power numbers compared to an RB26. I know there's a ton of power loss from things like high tension rings, high viscosity oil, clutch fan, AWD standby loss, etc but it's something like 700 whp in an F80 M3 vs 400 whp in an R33 GTR. The stock TF035HL4W turbos in an F80 M3 are really rather dinky little things and that's enough to get 400 whp at 18 psi. This just seems unwise no? I thought the general approach is if you aren't knock limited the MFB50 should be held constant through the RPM range. So more timing with RPM, but less timing with more cylinder filling. A VE-based table should accordingly inverse the VE curve of the engine.
