i don't really know as not many people run an ARC airbox. since i've had my GTR i have used HKS pods, then apexi power intake, and now i have just bought an ARC airbox. I will give it a go soon and see how it goes. I must say it really is a nice looking airbox. it has two filters, one on the top and one on the front and has beautiful little bellmouthed trumpets inside that bolt to the AFMs. they are expensive though. but i have never been dissapointed in any ARC product I have seen/used.

Hey BB (sorry for the high-jack)

where did you get the ARC airbox from and do you have any pics. I have HKS pods ATM - but I'm getting concerned about under bonnet temps (steam off the bonnet on rainy days is a give away). I'd like to get some sort of cold air intake happening - and I'm assuming a closed off airbox with some piping from the front bar will be the way to go

I also need to fit a pair of RB25 (80mm?) AFMs – will the ARC airbox work for that too ?

i bought the arc box second hand. but you can get them from the usual people. nengun, greenline etc. sit down before you are read the price though... such a nice bit of gear.

yeah, i had originally wanted to box in my apexi pods but it's quite difficult to make a neat box for them in the 32 GTR. not much space.

i don't think the RB25 afms will bolt up to the arc box. you could use mines or nismo ones though.

already have the RB25 AFMs :P

Nengun price is only $530 delivered for the ARC airbox -- which is about the same as the Apexi suction kit for Z32s (also 80mm yes ?)

would the Nismo AFMs be a reasonable upgrade for my R32 GTR - IE flow more - or is it just voltage resolution I need.

Thanks for that beer Baron, when you do put the induction box on let us know how it goes, an wheather ther is a performance increase then the other products you used.Could you possibly send pictures of your engine bay when you have installed the box.

I don't know your specific case but unless the inlets on your compressors are bigger than your AFMs then they wont be physically restricting you. it will be the calibration of the stock afms. mine are just about hitting 5.1v with just 14psi and 250 kws.

yep apexi suction kit for Z32s should be fine for the 20/25 meters too.

filters are 236mm×200mm and 170mm×125mm

if you can find replacement i'm keen because the ones in my are a little worse for wear.

Thanks. I just noticed the sizes are listed on ARC's website: doh. Interesting that both the R33 and 34 airbox have a larger primary filter.

I have emailed Pipercross asking if they have appropriately sized filters. I will be very interested to see your impressions vis-a-vis pod filters.

Lucien.

well firstly i can say i have noticed no difference doing from HKS pods to Apexi pods. they sound the same and the car feels the same. that's not to say it didn't gain 5kws but if it did i can't feel it... i do know that once the engine bay is nicely heated inlet temps go up and pretty much stay up.

Can you give us the ARC website address.

Richard: Unshielded I imagine? I remember you saying that your thought the Apexi's looked to have a much better design than the HKS's, but no noticeable difference is a bit of a bummer. Still, will be very interesting to see how the ARC compares.

LW.

yeah, I still think the apexi pods are a step-up from the HKS. HKS ones are a plastic base with a metal cage holding in a circle of 'filter foam'. the plastic base has a ~60mm outlet which connects to their adapter with a piece of straight rubber join and hose clamps, then the adapters bolt to the AFMs with nuts and bolts. the apexi ones have those nice deep belmouth shape with a big long point reaching down from the top. also, they bolt to their adapters and their adapters bolt to the afms without nuts (thread tapped in adapter). plust the material they use for their filters looks to be a cotton based style which would appear to filter better. i will definately let you know how the ARC goes. i'm predicting 0 difference on the dyno, but on the road/track it should be better.
