hey,

today i inspected my r32 gtr that was just imported,

it appears to have a large garrett turbo, and twin z32 afms, however on inspection could not find any aftermarket ecu, the stock on is pluged in, with no sign of a piggy back unit.

now, when we start car up, it idles sh*t, it does idle, and is lumpy, but its on 5 cylinders, im going back tomorow to do a comp test and change the plugs,

my question basically is, would the z32 afms have conflict with the stock ecu?

could this be a problem

(yes it appears imlooking for a cheap solution to a possible rebuild) but im not, im basically asking questions that could have cheap fix, rather then putting new rings etc in it and finding out the ecu was problem after all

cheers

Michael

Hi Michael, by rechipping it is possible to change the AFM Voltage ramp table in the standard R32GTR ECU. This was not unusual until Apexi came out with the affordable Power FC. them most tuning shops in Japan stopped playing with the standard ECU.

My suggestions;

Change the plugs

Be carefull, it is most likely tuned for 100 octane

Listen for pre-ignition

Get the A/F ratios checked

On the dyno for diagnostic power run, best $50 you will ever spend.

:D

Sydney kid,

yeh i will be changing the plugs tomorow, something i noticed also, was the timing is fairly advanced. i will take some tools up tomorow(felt bad asking for even a screwdrivr) and have a look inside the ecu for some sort of chip,

once complied it will be on the dyno, im curious to wether go all out and get a power fc to be safe if the plugs dont solve anything
