Well guys I had a great time.

I only saw Ryan

Onarun

shell

miss S13 and GTR BOY and a few others.

I was the guy with the green WRX.

Did I miss out being intoduced to anyone?

Next time we should just have a cruise of our own because I would of liked to meet up with all you guys on a more personal level instead of being rushed by the silviansw guys.

Anyway I really had a great time and the only disapointing thing was I didnt get to chat to your shell much longer. Next time when we have a canberra cruise we need to have dinner or lunch and chat ok.

I loved the look you gave me when I hugged you and you were thinking "who the f**k is this guy" LOL. Thanks shell:D

Knobs eh? Well your bloody charming aint ya ????

I must say that as one of the knobs we got sick of waiting around for over an hour, the whole cruise was completely disorganised and we made a move to get the show on the road.

Its a pity you guys couldn't KEEP UP, even though we weren't pushing it too hard and were constantly waiting and stopping allowing people to catch up.

If you call getting booked for crossing a double white line getting "nailed HARD" then I hate to see what happens when our friendly mister officer busts someone for drag racing or impounds their car... now that would be "nailed HARD".

On a whole all our member were quite irritated by the lack of organisation and waiting around.... when we usually go cruising we have had nothing but fun for the whole nite, no constaint waiting for people and no spending over an hour deciding on whats happening... we like to plan ahead.

Hey mayhem,

Please dont take Nick's (BY BY) comments as views of the Skylines Australia club, he is speaking on his own behalf and I dont think we should be calling ANYBODY knobs.

Unfortunatly, I missed you guys as I had to work last nigt and ended up catching the dudes at thornleigh at around 1:30-ish.

I also like cruises to be organised and I am not sure what happened before i met them up, but i do know that lots happened that wasn't discussed before cruising (ie, destinations that nobody was aware of, routes etc).

Myself and a few others will be heading up the coast tomorrow for a bit of an easy run, meeting at 12 at thornleigh macca's, it'd be good to meet a few of you silvia boys, why dont you come along?

PranK,

Good to see some decent people around :P Sorry if I lost my temper, but its comments like BY BY's that really get my blood boiling.

I can understand not posting the details of the cruise for reasons of cop attention etc etc.... but when we got there last night nothing was said and we had to try and find out what was going on... in the end we made a decision to get the show on the road.

As for the cruise tomorrow... unfortunately I am completely out of cruise time for the next two weeks because of my final Uni exams, but I will see if anyone else wants to give it another go.

Hey mayhem,

We usually post all cruise details regardless of cop attention because the majority of our cruises are sedate and calm. We generally dont go out of our way to run each other.. again, i wasn't there, so i dont know why that was arranged.

I can understand why BY BY's comments pissed you off.

Anyway, bummer that you can't come tomorrow! (whats uni anyway?? :P ) But you should definately come to one of our other cruises.

Do you guys have forums on your site? In future I will post details of our cruises there FYI.

Christian.

PranK,

When I say cop attention I mean just the fact that cops see us is enough problem, we usually also have quite sedate (to a degree) cruise, but cops hassle imports no matter what... always trying to defect cars.

Uni = University (studying IT).

Yeah we sure have forums... http://www.silviansw.com/forum/ feel free to sign up and advertise cruises in the cruise section :P

Once Uni is over I will be spending some time getting my car back on the road... (puting an S14 SR20DET into my S13).

Speak to you again in a couple of weeks.

Bwahahha... sorry mate... too much study and I am just not thinking properly.

Usually I would agree Uni doesn't mean much... but these are my last 3 subjects and then I graduate finally after 3.5 years :) so yeah it means a bit.

Besides since my S13 is off the road at the moment I have to rely on lifts from generous members of the club to let me bum around in their cars on cruises (yes yes I am the SilviaNSW car s**t).

Just my crappy 2 cents worth......I didn't go on that run to Thrash,,,I went on that cruise thinking thats what it was going to be,,, a Cruise. Personally I don't think it was ever meant to be anything else but a Cruise. I just think it got a bit bigger than we thought.

Mayhem,,,I came home a little pissed off as well,,,now I'm more pissed off,,,because you Silvia guys have the shits.

Sorry you had to wait for me,,,yea I think I was the last one into Gosford Macca's ,,,,but keep in mind I was the one that led the coppers away from you all at the Service Station.......We are not all bad.

By By looks like your in the dog box buddy,,,wana share the dooner with Monty,,,,

I only have the shits with stupid comments from BY BY, as do most of our members, its just uncalled for.

We are just used to meeting up, talking for 30 mins or so and then going cruising.... and so some people got a little impatient.

We dont usually thrash it, although some of the head people like to push it a bit more, but they always stop and wait up to be fair for others.

Thanks for leading the law away from us... much appreciated.

All I can say is that next time I hope it works out better, I think this was just a once off thing... the night had a "bad feel" about it, and it turned out to be true.

Nice to meet you Minh, and everyone else i met. Also good to catch up with those of you who i've met before. Was a good meeting even tho it was dis-organised. BY BY, i think you've gotta cool down a bit. We don't really want bad blood between Silvia NSW and Skylines Australia because of comments like that man.

See my thread about the next Sydney cruise, add your thoughts on it there.

Ryan

    • One other question, is there a chance that changing the idle speed can lead you down a rabbit hole and is the reason the tuner didn't touch it? Reason I ask is because if that's the reason the tuner avoided it then I probably shouldn't be touching it lol.
    • Pfft. As if I'd ever point a high pressure washer at my car.
    • The nature of my commute has changed. Way back then it was traffic lights all the way, for ~28km. It sucked. When they finally stitched the expressway together I could do a good 15+km of it at a steady 80-100 with no stopping. That alone has gotten me down to flat 10s. Prior to that it was mid-high 10s. I can't remember the delta that I saw when I got the idle down. It was only ~150 rpm, because the idle speed was never terrible, but for the delta in consumption to be noticeable it would have had to have been at least 0.2-0.3 L/100km - which is not to be sneezed at when it comes for absolute free. It's only about 50L per year, but that's ~$100. A few extra pizzas is always welcome. Note that I have a record of every tank of fuel that has ever gone through my car except for a handful put in by someone else, like my mechanic. I can show you the difference between stock RB20 and tuned RB20, stock RB5Neo and tuned, winter and summer fuel blends, winter and summer fuel blends when the ambient temperature is not appropriate for the blend, working O2 sensor, blown O2 sensor, boosting f**k out of it and frightened to boost it because it is pinging, and so on. OK, I probably can't do all that now with 100% clarity - but at the time when any of those things were in event, you could see it in the records. There's 25+ years of simple tank after tank records, so you have to look for landmarks to work out approximately how old any single record is. What's really important is the meta data and that lives in my head.
    • If you're claiming the issues are not skyline specific, then either the USA is living in the 90s / early 2000s, OR you have the issue of "survivor bias". Which is you're mainly hearing and listening to those with terrible experiences, and haven't found the guys who have cars with good decent builds and no problems. It happens in AU too, that plenty of people keep having issues, and they keep going to the workshops that are known to be shit "because I read on the internet". Even worse, are those who keep posting on the internet as though they know for a fact what something is, when they've never touched/looked at said item in their life, and again are making assumptions, based on something they read, or because it's a certain way in other cars. It's even funnier when those same people debate the facts with the people who've lived and breathed this stuff for over 15 years. Example, I've had someone tell me you can't do something with a Skyline, because they read it on the internet, except I can tell they're wrong, as I did that exact thing back in 2008 with my Skyline.
    • The funniest part I saw, was someone would bitch and moan on FB about something, Andy would be the one to respond, asking for more info, if he could contact them, what the engine setup is, what their config file was, and 95% of the responses were people just going "der! It doesn't work" and Andy going "What doesn't work?" And then going "The firmware!" And they'd go around in circles as no one could ever give information, and Haltech couldn't fault things on the bench, (especially when people wouldn't give any specifics).   Many moons ago, when Andy was back at e420c stage, he reached out to me, and asked me to test different plug and play looms for him (already had an e420c in the car on his V1 PNP loom). And he kept asking me, as I was competent enough to be able to give him some specific feedback on what was/wasn't working, how to replicate the faults etc, and work through things with him. Most people are terrible at answering the questions they're asked, or being able to provide quality feedback other than "it doesn't work".
