Yeah, from what ive been told, 350 rwkw shouldnt be a problem. I dont really care though; i think ill have my hands full with rear wheel drive (and the air conditioning on!). As long as it comes on early. Im using a Tial 44mm external wastegate. I was going to go the Autronic SM2 with the traction control, but this has proven to be an expensive option. Its now between the Autronic SM4 (without T control) or the PFC.

If you guys dont mind, i think ill keep you posted on the progress of the conversion from here on, especially the tuning side of things if i decide to go with the Autronic. Theres no point in making someone elses mistakes twice.

Shaun.

Some more pics. These are the differences between the GT30 and the GT3540. I dunno if you can see the incriments on the vernier calipers or not (make sure your reading from zero).

Besides the point a GT35 will spool up faster than any GT30 in any configuration due to the later design of the turbine-compressor wheels. Just rip of the housing and feast your eyes on the differences.

How come the turbine maps show the GT30R as having a 72% peak efficiency, and the GT35R "only" 70%? How can a larger mass then accelerate faster - talking about the inertia of the wheels? I don't understand how a larger turbo will spool faster, well two turbos from the same lineup from the same manufacturer using alot of common components.

Hey I just noticed something - that smaller turbo in the pics is not a genuine GT30R Garrett - nothing from the GT lineup has 7 blade compressors...

Sorry to go off topic here.

Very Impressive results this car will post i am sure.

I know the GT3540 and T04R have similar HP ratings.

Has anyone the maps for both? Obviously the T04R is an older technolgy and isnt BB.

Both are going to be making 5psi by 3500rpm and 25psi by 5500rpm i presume.

And both capapble of making the high 300kwatw

thanks for the help.

michael

w@nk factor??? hehe.

theres a guy here in canberra whos running a single gt35 on his rb26 and its making 1bar by 2900rpm. the thing is stupidly responsive so i've been told (spools faster than his old nismo grpA turbos anyway). i believe he was shooting for 400rwkw but i think he's pulling something more in the region of 360ish....

d

Very nice choice.. as i am currently rebuilding a rb26, which has some nice mods in the engine and also opted for the same turbo, with custom manifold and innovative wastegate (brought from exXU1 on SAU).. Same setup, dropping this into a r32 gtst as well..

I have opted to go for the PFC so would be a good comparson to see these 2 cars go.

My A/C only shoots out hot air as well  Should really get that fixed on day.

Let me know how the setup goes. mine wont be on the road for a while, just need some extra dosh to finish the engine off.

Ok just looking around afew ppls are doing this 2wd thingy, well I'll put up some info for everyone here.

If you are looking around for a 2wd sump, awhile back I negotiated with hi energy to make a custom sump for myself, but apparently they already had one underway for rb26 in 2wd format and it holds 9 litres by itself has trap doors and scrapers, also if used in conjunction with a cooler set up the volumn increases to 10+ litres depending what size line you use,

Also I commission a custom manifold for a single turbo, in the end we made about 10, lol. kept 1 and dump the other nine, no I didn't sell them to other skyline owners as to me they were inferior to the one I had, and it would be wrong to do it, anyway, I hope the photo works out below, if you have question regarding rb26 into gts pm me as i'm not going to post up 1000 pics and pages and pages of info regarding how to build and blow up (blowing them up is my specialty) engine and the pitfall of street engine as to race engines. There are a few very mechanical talented ppls on this forum, who might shed more light onto this.

I'm just a car nut, and a sucker for skyline.

Yeah, my A/C shoots hot air too; ill get it regassed but if it doesnt work ill bin it and save about 50kg.

It will be interesting to see how both cars end up, especially if we decide on different engine management. Im interested to know how youll use the Power FC. Will you use the gtst loom and one AFM with the R32 PFC, or put the gtr loom in and use two AFM's and a gtr PFC?

In my case, if i buy the PFC, boost controller, AFM and modify the loom, it will end up being the same cost as the Autronic; ive just gotta find out whether tuning costs will be significantly different (Autronic tune = $$$$ i think).

Im using a highmount set up because i believe it looks better (im not a w@nker for that), and because i got the manifold for an excellent price. With some easy mods the manifold will work well and the heat due to increased surface area can be dealt with easily.

I dont know much about T04's, but id be interested to see how a T04Z performed on an RB26. I think this turbo is a rebuildable ball bearing 800hp turbo????

Ive got a friend who has a T04Z on a 1JZ Cressida, and he does a 10.7 (with nitrous tho). I dont think it comes on until about 5200rpm with cams and is a dog on the street.

yeah the reason for a high mount is more cooling and also there is more room available to work with one big single. it will be easier to manage.

Yet to be decided about the wiring loom, i will try and go for the GTST loom, (even tho mine has been cut 50 times and put back together) and go for the single AFM, but have to source out the PFC. or go with the GTR ProFC and get 2x Z32 AFM's.

I will be HPC the manifold as well for the extra cooling to make sure that it all runs well, unlike yourself i dont have the vented bonnet :) more money later on for that.

As good as the HPC coating is, alone it wont be enough to control under bonnet temps. In addition it may be a good idea to use some thin aluminium to make up a few shields, perhaps the blankets for the exhaust housing...or may consider wrapping the manifolds up with the exhaust wrap. If you are going to use the wrap dotn bother with the high temp silicon spray that they recommend you apply, its meant to protect/preserve the wrap but i foind it just makes the wrap brittle and ends up crumbling after you have given a good few hits of high temp

    • Interesting, I haven't read about the issue with oil getting into the speedo in the cluster before. I'll have to take more notice with mine. The speedo on my R32's when I've run factory diff and tyre size have never been accurate as far as I can remember. The non Type-M GTS-t did come with 15" 5 stud wheels and smaller brakes, but that's less than 5% of them.
    • Good to hear the condenser you picked up off my brother worked all good. Do you think there could be an issue with your AC compressor itself or the clutch on it then? I don't know a lot about them so I can't really help but keen to hear what it ends up being. Keep the build thread going man, it's nice to look back on over time.
    • This is a story of my life things, I learned eventually (thanks to someone calling me out) that my enthusiasm for discussing and sharing ideas that it came across as arrogance and I'm like... WTF?!    One thing I'm pretty sure I justifiably pride myself on is knowing that everyone will have things they can teach you, and you're always going to find out that something you think you know turns out wrong - you just don't know what it is until you get there.   Just the bursting enthusiasm that comes with ADHD when you hit something that gives you dopamine dumps can come across like you think everyone else is wrong or don't matter. But yeah, I'm a software engineer by trade and also do tuning in weekends and 100% have long had a reputation for  quickly making connections when resolving problems or forming solutions that I've sometimes had to take people form a long walk from start to end to explain how I ended up where I did when it's seemed "too simple" when I've stated my initial case, and had the "WTF" type reaction when they've realised how much was actually considered haha.   My reward is that I get all the curly problems thrown at me.
    • Wives never seem to find things funny. Especially when they're trying to sleep, and you've found the new funniest thing ever. I've never seen someone be able to get try and be cranky with me, while they're holding back fits of laughter... 😛   Also, I tell mine it's payback anyway. She has BiPolar. So the household can get quite emotionally wild at times 😛
    • I'm not up to date on the latest, but for basic modifications like pod filter, lower springs etc you can get a modification permit at the time of inspection.  For more serious modifications you will need engineering.  Intercoolers used to fall into the mod permit rule but its been a long while since i looked it up.   Either way you will be able to get it registered, just a case of $300 vs $3k .
