Id always dreamed of being able to smoke a Gen3 of any sort, but never had the cars to do it. My Swift GTi came close, but after the first 300mtr, it was game over.

When I got the gtr, however, Id had it less than 7 minutes, before I was at a red light, next to an R8 Clubbie. At first, I was nervous, the big red 5.7 rumbled away, but as soon as the light changed, my nerves turned to exhilaration as I easily chopped him, and chopped him good. Id had some good times in the GTi, but this was by far, my greatest chopping moment.

Got me thinking though, Id love to hear other ppl's best chopping stories.

Oh no, not the "street kill" thread. This is so much like NS...

Ahem. I don't believe this behavior is tolerated on SAU. We NEVER participate in friday night green light grand prix.

errr...what 'behaviour' are you exactly talking about mate?

Talking about how you "chopped" someone at the lights. Cops do read these forums and we don't want to come through as a bunch of hot-blooded hoons going out to the street in search of someone to race off the lights. Besides, it's illegal.

Fair enough and understood.

This morning i got up as usual and proceeded to go about my routine to prepare to go to work.

Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted one of those flash new 'vine ripened' red tomatoes, and thought, hell, with my new set of knives I could chop him good...

so when the lights went on, there I was, ready for 320RPM (repititions per minute) for the chopping...

Inside of 10 seconds, it was all over... I chopped the red tomato good, he didn't know which way to look, I showed him!!

hahahahahaha

    • Yes, me too!!!!  I need to find a something that has all the abbreviations for what these cars have LOL
    • Dang.....  that is some good info.  Thank you.    Yes, I plan to do some troubleshooting before I actually just throw parts at it.  I was doing some investigating on parts, just to get a head start, if wiring and stuff all looked good.
    • No worries, now that I'm closer to 70yo than not, this sort of stuff will one day be 'lost knowledge'... and even now, I wonder just how many folks out there have the Kent-Moore J34291 shim setting tool set to set end clearances rebuilding these...but right the now, there's less and less hard parts available, and you'll be headed to the wreckers to buy a donor box if it's worn out...(or pay a shop to do exactly the same thing). In a way, it's fortunate the 4-speed was so popular, because there's still heaps of consumables (banners kits, bearings & plates etc) around ~ these early 5-speeds weren't exactly that prevalent, so there's not quite as much about for them... but it's a race between perceived demand for these parts, versus how much they fetch at the shredder for recycling purposes...
    • I hope one day I can do it like you. Your engine looks great.
    • If there's nothing else I can do I'll probably do something like that Someone on the internet said that ca20s and ca18 engine blocks are the same and that you can use a ca20 engine block and put ca18det parts to make a ca20det Do you think this is possible or will it damage the engine?
