I have a bosch 044 pump, Sard 550cc injectors and a Nismo fuel reg. I am currently making about 235rwkw and, like Bass, am looking for a VG30 ext. cover, also will be adding poncams and will port the head while i am at it.

Now for my question: At 235rwkw the wolf is showing that max duty cycle is at 80%, i was surprised to see it so high. Will i be able to make the extra 40rwkw with the current fuel system? I haven't touched the fuel reg, since i bought it second hand, is it just as simple as increasing the fuel pressure to compensate?

Your help is appreciated :D

Mine basically looks like a regular RB20/25 turbo, the comp wheel does look larger as there isn't the step up.

I'll take some pics and post them. I've got a .82 exhaust housing that I will place next to it.

The VG30 is definitely a .6 something not a .82.

It will be interestering to put it next to the rb20 exhaust housing to compare the difference.

Hi Al, I'm no authority on anything but on Tuesdaywhen I was having a check up on the Dyno at C&V when the GTs-t made 273.9, I'm pretty sure Con said my injector duty cycle was showing 80%, and with the A/F dropping off Con concluded that the Fuel Pump was maxing out. That was with Nismo 550 injectors, Sard FPR and R34 FP. I asked him if he could screw the FPR a little so that it could make up for the shortage and he didn't like the idea...Said the only solution was a bigger FP and swirl pot.

With those extra mods Al (Head Porting etc..Seriously.. your looking at making close to [email protected] kid you not.

Thanks Ian, but question still remains.

I have a Bosch 044, so do i need to just adjust the FPR to give me more fuel? The 044 is claimed to support about 600hp so i don't think it is the limiting factor. I need to check, with a pressure gauge, what my FPR is set to.

Note:

You are making 273rwkw with 80% d/c, using 550cc inj.

I am making 235rwkw with 80% d/c, with 550cc inj.

So it is reasonable to assume you are running higher fuel pressure in your fuel line?

Thanks Again (PM replied)

Hey Guys

Does anyone have the serial number for the VG30ET Turbos or any part numbers off the turbo?

We are developing STAGE 1 and 2 TURBO UPGRADES for the RB

Stage 1 - 440HP CORE with standard housings

Stage 2 - VG30ET Turbin Housing

Cheers

Tarek

RACESPEC,

Its not the VG30ET turbine housing you want.

Its the VG30DET turbine housing. Those you won't find easily. :P

I don't see why the VG30ET housing wouldn't work as from memory its the same as the VLT housing. Only difference is it's not boltup. :D

I've pulled apart my RB25DET turbo this arvo, and tomorrow I'm going to try to fit a VG30ET turbine housing to it.

It has a different dump pipe flange, but it's possible that a custom dump could be made to suit. Not sure yet, but hey, it wouldn't hurt to try. Not even sure that it will fit onto centre bit, but just thought I'd play.

Bass Junky,

Does it look bigger? :P

Do some measurements through the center of the exhaust wheel to where it looks like the gasket or what ever bolts up. Basically the largest wheel that can be machined to fit.

I've done a few measurements on the vg30det turbine housing and it looks the largest it can be machined out will suit the GT30 600hp, I wouldn't want to machine up the stock comp cover to suit the 600hp core. :D

The only difference between the GT30 600hp core and the GT35 core is the turbine wheel is slightly smaller. From memory 7-8mm.

It 'may' be possible there is enough meat in the vg30et/RB30ET turbine housing to fit in the GT35R core. :)

Cubes the turbine the highflow uses is I think the 76 trim TA34 ("stage 3" in turbonetics speak) which from memory is 64-65mm so larger than the GT30 turbines major diameter (60mm) . We both know which the better turbine is though .

Just on those Hi Flows , I believe they can use any of the T3/T31/TA34/T4B,E bush bearing type compressor and turbines . Garrett are supposed to make all the GTBB type wheels (both sides) in bush bearing style that could be used if you can get them cheaply and easily . So if you could find a GT35 compressor and GT30 turbine and fit it into the Hitachi bearing housing with the XTR (Turbonetics?) BB conversion bingo - one GT3071R that falls onto an RB25 and suits all the plumbing requirements for oil water air and exhaust . It can be that easy , the real question is can it be done economically enough to market it successfully . Maybe we shall see ahh GCG ?

Cheers A .

I refuse to quit the search for this VG30DET housing.

Damn you Bullant47. You have reduced my life to that of a computer geek searching the web for some bloody obscure component that nobody has.

ARGH!

Sorry Pete...Have you tried "The Toy Shop" in Newcastle?. They recon they had one when i was looking for one. Just make sure whoever says they have one that it is the "RIGHT" VG30. I got the wrong one originally and had to take it back.

Just in passing, I raced at Oran Park on Sunday and I was .3sec outside my fastest time on the GP Circuit. The GCG with the VG30 housing is incrediably powerful and is different to the normal GCG Hiflow. You have to wait a little till the car is fairly straight before you can plant your foot cause it wants to spin the wheels a lot and bring the tail around. Maybe with newer tyres I will do a lot better as I flatspotted one of the front tyres badly (down to the cords) and the RE55's are just about had it. Had heaps of fun on the day and the Skyline was hootin. Results are on www.natsoft.com.au There were about 15 WRX's there including 2.5l STi's and not one WRX bettered my time.
