mine is a mongoose aswell...button 2 and then 1 will make it silent, but i like the lil chirp ;)

also, when you unlock it, if you dont put your key in and turn it to ON, the engine will immobilise...

press both the buttons n the alarm goes off ;)

Chirping is kinda like that whole fad of wearing your mobile phone on your belt so everyone could see you had one. Never liked that either.

What happens if somebody is standing around at a shopping centre, etc waiting for nice looking cars to arrive that don't appear to have any alarm? Then running up while you leave your turbo timer going (not that i have one, as its a security risk) and are that comfortable 20-30m away.

I know I'd prefer to have the audible warning, in the small likelihood of this happening.

my one has the facility where - if my turbo timer is going, I can lock the door - it will wait till turbo timer finishes than arms itself.. this is quite handy as I can get up and walk away, unless they are super quick they haven't got much chance, i also tend to not leave my car running e.g. turbo timer and walk off, tend to let it finish..

as for chirping, got the choice - button 1 - 3 chirps, button 2 - 1 quick quiet one.. having a keypad is quite a good deterrent as well..

If any of the alarm inputs are triggered (i.e. door/bonnet/boot and or any other additional sensors installed) the engine will be cut and immobilised, all doors lock and alarm on.

mine has the turbo timer thing too, i can arm the alarm and it locks but does not immobilise till engine stops, smart critter. Also has stealth arming for sneaking into your girlfriends place at 4 in the morning without waking her parents, but mine remembers that you silent armed it and silent disarms too

Took me a while to work this function out, thought I was just going crazy, but when i walk to the car, once I disarm the alarm, if I don't open the door within about 30seconds-1min, it rearms itself. Pain in the arse sometimes, but i guess its in case you knock the disarm button walking away.

hmm  anyone else's do that?

yeh, i understand ur problem, mine does that too, but i think u can change a few things like that with the unit, u can delay it a little more so that it gives u a little bit more time. mine is also annoying with the immobilisor, if u dont start the car within 30 secs, after disarming the alarm the immobilisor arms itself and u have to unlock/disarm the alarm again in order to start the car.. but hey it works fine and i dont really care so long as it doesnt get stolen

chirp, definatly, just so that i know that my car is locked, if i hear the chirp it stays with me so i dont have to be like

"did i lock my car? *contemplates getting up and going out and checking* fkn hell! *gets up and goes to make sure the car is locked*" :P

+ the whole 4am in the morning thing? its not like a chirp is going to wake up the ENTIRE neighbourhood, a little chirp or beep i think is good

sounds like you have everything, now all it has to do is drive itself for you and we can call it KIT B)

Cheers B

i can make mine chirp or not but i like the chirping becoz sometimes i get a bit scared that i havnt locked it when i walk away or that ive pressed it twice and unlocked it even though it has a screen to tell me if its locked or not. lol ive got a page guard by the way.

im still trying to work out my remote, has 4 buttons, 1,2,3,0

the guy i bought the car off said 3 didnt do anything, yet when i press it the red light about the key hole in the dash will blink.

when the turbo timer finishes the car unlocks. scary.

and beat this, when i have the bonnet open and arm the car, it starts when i shut the bonnet.. either that or when i shut the bonnet, and then try to arm it.

remote has a little "Kings Gun" written on it and has a little screen above the 4 buttons if it means anything to any one

it chirps as well tho sometimes i can silent arm it but then i dont realize how i did it :D

mine has the chirps on, i can change it, but i haven't bothered...the beeps arent that loud anyway, but i can walk away from the car and arm it and not have to look back

you guys have skylines, so i dont think you need to worry about a little beep waking people up lol

    • Quick update.  The engine grounding strap was replaced, the engine is now happily running.  Tested the voltage drop before replacing the strap, was about 1.2ish volts down between engine to battery, chassis to battery. With the new grounding strap, pretty much no voltage drop at all.
    • I was chatting with an ex SAU person who is involved in chooning euros now. He was saying the factory cars like Audi VW etc have something like 2000 tables that the ECU uses for getting everything "just right". Compare that back to any aftermarket ECU, and you'd be hard pressed to surpass 50 lookup tables. Even the Ford Barra engine has a few hundred lookup tables to run it (and they're still working some tables out too!)
    • Grab a temp probe, and probe each exhaust inlet runner with it sitting idling. Each one should be pretty darn close to the same temp. If you've got some reading higher or lower than the others, it's likely either air flow isn't equal, or your injectors aren't equal to each other.   The other things to check, is from the wiring changes that were made, were any earth's or grounds moved/changed.   Lastly, for the strut brace issue. It's not perfect, but can you get away with slipping a washer or two under the strut brace to raise it, and it still clean the bonnet? If you can, work out the height you need, that the motor can't torque up into, and get a spacer made for each side.
    • That rusty R32 fuel tank is what we found in Clinton's R32. It has since been replaced with a R32 GTR tank and all it took was a bit of ingenuity in building new fuel tank hangers. I cannot believe how simple the R32 fuel level sender is compared to the R33 unit.
