raz0r$harP.UK
You can buy an adapter plate for the RB26 cover to fit the RB25. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/79077-clear-rb25det-timing-case/#findComment-1442975 Share on other sites

BU5TER
ok in the pic below notice the bulge in the cam gear cover to the left of the CAS (crank angle sensor), behind that bulge is the hub for the VCT Now if you check the pic below of the RB26 clear cover it does not have that bulge, so adapter or no adapter it will never fit on because it does not have the space for the vct hub Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/79077-clear-rb25det-timing-case/#findComment-1443574 Share on other sites

raz0r$harP.UK
Well that's what I was told when I called Advan - although the adapter cost nearly as much as the cover, so I didn't go ahead with it in the end. Haven't actally seen it myself though. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/79077-clear-rb25det-timing-case/#findComment-1443696 Share on other sites
GTRgeoff
Try a hole saw. That will leave just a small, fairly smooth rotating part protruding. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/79077-clear-rb25det-timing-case/#findComment-1443743 Share on other sites
Sydneykid
Try a hole saw. That will leave just a small, fairly smooth rotating part protruding. That's the VVT actuator on the front of the inlet camshaft; Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/79077-clear-rb25det-timing-case/#findComment-1443752 Share on other sites
GtstCoupe
and what does this vct hub do Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/79077-clear-rb25det-timing-case/#findComment-1443895 Share on other sites
GTRgeoff
Variable cam timing (VCT) for the inlet cam, switched using oil pressure. I'm thinking a piece of mdf with a hole in it and a heat gun and the original cover may do the job. Use the original as the base, cut away what is not able to fit. Start with gradually heating the area you want to deform then lay it over the base. Use the mdf with the hole (or a thick wool lined set of riggers gloves) to form the clear cover over the bulge. Basically there is nothing to see with a RB25 so why bother? GTRgeoff
As seen in SK's pic, the exhaust wheel is covered by the CAS, and the effort to put one on the inlet side is prohibitive. No-one makes one for RB25DET as it has the VCT. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/79077-clear-rb25det-timing-case/#findComment-1443963 Share on other sites
