just reading this other thread about how long people warm up their cars b4 they start driving...

i was wondering how long people leave their turbo timers for?

and also how did u by pass ur immobolizer or u just wait around?

i normally set mine on 15secs after normal driving around and about a minute if i gunned it : abit.

i got the Mongoose 3point alarm imobilizer which work in conjunction with my turbo timer.

I look like a fool because i cant lock my car untill the engine shuts off. Im just hanging around my car for 30sec untill it turns off. I would use the Auto feature on my TT if i could lock the car and leave it. Auto normally does around 4 minutes...

15 minute warm up jesus you will be causing more wear on the engine then doing good i reckon. i normally let it warm up for a minute or two then just keep the rev's under 3K and try to keep off boost as much as possible till the oil preasure starts to drop down to the wamr level.

5 minutes is too long

If they're windows or car was smashed they'd narrow it down to the knob who's car is always running with no-one in it.

cool down here not warm up...

so most people wait around till their TT turn off before locking the car?

i agree with what others have said in terms of cool down really a turbo timer may not really be required if you just drive normally for the last 5 minutes or so. I have a turbo timer though for the times that i am in a bit of a rush its set to i think 30 - 40 seconds.

Its crazy to be running the car so hot up until you stop that you have to use a turbo timer at all. Its not just your engine, you need to think about brake temps warping rotors etc.

Just drive it slowly for the last 60 sec of your trip, lcok the car and wander off.

The only time a TT should be used is when you have just finished a session on a race track.

My car has done over 100,000km i dont have turbo timer and never let it cool down if ive been driving normally, if ive given it a hit then come to a stop (hardly ever happends) ill give it a couple of minutes. everything still seems to be fine! I agree just take it easy for the last minute or 2 of your drive.

So far just been taking it easy for the first 5 till the car warms up and the oil pressure evens out @ 2kg/cm^2.. than at the end I tend to take it early coming back into my place..

also - what's oil pressure meant to sit on.. i'm guessing about 2kg/cm^2 normal cruising, than when I boost for a bit heads up toward 4kg/cm..

anyways - yeah take it easy for the last couple of minutes.. + get a minute or so while I open the garage door..

tt's are dangerous in my opinion...

what are you guys going to do if someone t-bones your car at high speed, and your sitting there trapped in your car unconscious....hey the ignitions been killed, but the cars still pumping fuel....

I personally dont want to be burnt in my car, so i chose not to use one...same goes if you roll the car and the fuel lines are cut/broken.....pumps fuel out still.....

Just dont drive on full boost for the last couple of minutes of your trip and you won't really need to let it idle down.

If you run an oil cooled only turbo such as a TO4 or something then letting it idle/cool down is more critical.

The standard turbo's and most other modern turbos are watercooled, so excess cool down is simply not required.

My turbo timer hits a maximum of 3:20 using full auto mode and that's travelling long distance sustaining 110km/h+. Usually it will run for around the 1:30mark after some spirited, some normal. Mine's integrated into my alarm so i can lock the car with it running and walk away. No dramas.

Thats why you hookup the handbrake sensor circuit.

That way if the handbrake isnt engaged and you turn the car off, the turbo timer doesnt operate.
