Unfortunately, the maa site is your only option. Whoever comes up with the cheapest quote would have to be your best bet.

Remember that the price of your greenslip will depend on your driving history/circumstances and not solely on your age. Therefore, if someone else (even around the same age as you) gets quoted a much cheaper price, that basically indicates that he is considered by the insurer to be of much less risk to them than you are.

These risks are carefully considered by the insurers. Remember that your $300-$400 a year could potentially pay for literally millions of dollars on a single claim depending on the severity of the injury.

Generally, the level of risk (hence the price of the insurance cover) is based on where you live, the car you drive and how old you are. In other words, if you live in an area where, statistically, there is a high rate of motor vehicle accidents and you drive a high-powered vehicle and you belong to an accident-prone age group, then you will be slugged with a relatively high premium.

the other things is green slips are weighted against the age of the car. the newer the car, the cheaper the green slip. once you get a car that is 10+ it's a battle to get anything less than $500.

dOOdz I suggest you try the www.maa.nsw.gov.au calculator as recommended by razorsharp. If the final amount remains at $560+ then you must be considered high risk. Do you have a bad driving history?

Im 21, green Ps (get them off in 2 months), NEVER had an accident. Live in an area which is pretty good not like a high crime area.

so wtf...

Doodz mate. you are 21 years old and on your p's FFS. you would be the highest risk there is. had some speeding fines? had some disqualification? of course it's going to be expensive. of course you've never had an accident, you've only had a provisional licence for <3 years.

fair enough, good work on the no fines, that will certainly help with comprehensive (which I assume you have?).

but yes, as you are male, <25 and on your P's you can expect to pay the highest rate there is. sucks, but that's the way it is.

Not sure how different the NSW vs QLD insurance prices rate. We don't have compulsory 3rd party property. 3rd party Personal is part of registration costs.

Have full comprehensive insurance for 93 R32-GTR for AGREED Value of $28k and it INCLUDES cover for Club track/timed events and all modifications as long as I notify them and they are legal. It also does not have any hidden restrictions like theft cover is void if on street after 11 at night.

Costing me $1250 with Shannons - go the gogo. I am 33 with no accidents so that might make a bit of difference.

    • Hi All, I'm based in Sydney and want to get hold of 4 stock R34 GTT wheel caps as pictured. Cheers
    • Haha im flattered! Although my poor boat is collecting dust in the garage, as it hasn’t been driven in like 6 months. I forgot the to put the trickle charger on too, so the battery is likely toast now.. I have the frenchys kit. It is fantastic. My only gripe was that the hard lines from the firewall needed some tweaking, however, this was mainly due to my specific turbo and dump combo. The weight and size packaging is much nicer too. I think I have some pics on my build thread somewhere.. my justification for the kit was more “why not” I had gone to the trouble to modernise just about every other part of the car..
    • Actually, ethanol has probably never been cheaper, on a tax free basis, than petrol. With fuel excise being what it is, and only being levied on the hydocarbon component, not the ethanol component, and ethanol for non-drinking purposes not being subject to liquor excise - E85 was cheaper, but not because the combustible liquid itself was particularly cheaper.
    • Maybe? If changing the cat to a higher flowing cat, caused the turbo to spool more quickly, and those areas of the map had not been tuned for the boost level it is now seeing, then yes you would need a re-tune. How dangerous it is running without the updated tune would depend on how far out the tune is with the now higher boost levels, how the engine protection has been setup, is the ECU compensating with a wideband sensor, is the boost control closed loop blah blah million other things... But yeah having said that, I wouldn't be surprised if changing out the cat for a high flow, in say a full 3" exhaust, made no noticeable difference at all.
