Whats the hose at the top of the gearbox for?

What is the rubber hose for at the *top* of the gearbox?? More specifically R32, but I think R33 has the same setup.. Here is on an R33 box..

Just that I am collecting bits for a manual conversion. Most other bits I am pretty sure where they all go, but not sure on where the top hose goes, and what its for.

It's a vent....all Nissan gearboxes have one (but not all have a hose...some just have a tube with a 'tophat', mainly early gearboxes). GTR gearboxes have an extra one for the ATTESA transfer case.

Ok, cool.. so I can just pipe it to the bottom of the car somewhere. Thought it might have to connect to some part I was missing.
