Has Anyone Had This Prob With Their Import Pertol Restrictor Coming Off Their Larger Original Petrol Filler Hole (for Me Its Happened To My R33 Gtst).... How Do I Go About Fixing It Back On Properly.... Do I Have To Remove The Filler Hole And Weld The Restrictor Back On.... Or Would Some Kind Of Silicon Do The Trick?

Cheers Guys!

Yep I've got same problem, and have not fixed it yet - I would like to know what others have done.

I found out at a track day when fuel poured out of the filler on left turns with a full tank - it is no prob for normal driving,

I have done a searh Zahos.... all i found was a recommendation to use Marine Grade Silicon.... couldnt find any tutorial on metal putty application.... can you point us in the right direction.... ta

Moanie and I fixed ours using a product called "QuikSteel". You can buy it at Kmart.

Don't use silicone. It's crap. Even that marine grade stuff will come loose in no time.

I now have a satisfying "psshhhhtttt" as I open the petrol cap.

Incorrect. Do not bash it back in. It will just come out again.

This is what they do at the compliance shop. They use an expander to make the hole a bit bigger to fit the restrictor in. They then use metal putty. That stuff works very well and is very strong.

You knead it until it is warm and soft, then put it in. It is very strong.

Just while were on the topic... i notice that when i start the car, i can see , and if the wind is blowing right , smell, fuel vapor.

Its strange, it only happens when i first start the car, i can see alot of vapor coming out from around the fuel flap.

Obviously it seems i'll have to do the putty fix also, thats no probs and great news.... but i was just wondering why it would only vent at startup..... anyone got any ideas ?
