steering rack

Hi Guys

I had my car broken into last night, they smashed the ignition barrel clean out of the steering colum and broke all the plastic covering that surronds the steering rack. The housing around where the ignition barrel is pretty mangeled, do you think ill need a new steering colum?

Also the steering wheel is locked, i cant unlocked it or break it.

Finally, anyone know the rough price (if worst comes to worst) for a steering colum for a 92 R32 GTSt

Just off the fone to SSS and JustJap both quoted me 200 - 250 bucks for another steering colum and about 2 hours labour or so.

Does this sound right toy ou guys?

Cant remember how lock is held in place on skyline but on other nissans I have put hacksaw cut through end of broken off bolt to make screwdriver slot and undo with screwdriver, or maybe remove steering wheel and put hacksaw through lock and break it off.

My steering lock jams every now and then, make sure its not just this. Turn the wheel as far right or left as you can get it while turning the key.
