Hi all,

I just visited Canada and noticed that we are missing out. So many people own new infinitys. I think they are awesome by comparison to what is on the road in Australia.

Does anyone know why we don't get them. Surely Nissan would be better off sending the infinity sedan here than the Maxima. Maybe it's a cost issue.

Does anyone know whether they are a good drive and whether they have been successful or a flop in other countries.

Cheers

Nissan tried bringing Infiniti down here during the "Japanese luxo" phase of the mid 90's. Of the big 3:

Infiniti

Eunos

Lexus

only one survived. But then they were backed by a far larger car company.

The rest of them got burnt by the fact that Australians weren't going to spend Euro money on imitation Euro cars.

I would buy an Infiniti G35 (i.e. a V35 Skyline) over any four door car available in Australia under $150,000 (or however much the old Audi RS4 went for). The Maxima, on the other hand...? I'd probably buy it if it was the absolute top of my budget and I needed a big sedan, but if I could stretch for a V8 Calais I'd pick the Holden.

Nissan Aus offered the Infiniti Q45 which did not take off, not sure if other models were brought in to Oz. Lexus LS400 was a more popular choice back then.

Infiniti is a well established mark in US and Canada. They do have them in UK and some euro countries I think.

I think cost is a major issue to bring in some of the infiniti range into Oz.
