Generally, tyres that cannot be used on public roads will have "Not for highway use", or "Racing purposes only" or something similar to indicate that you CANNOT use them as a normal road tyre. If they don't have such a marking they are generally OK.

what tyres are they? I run cheap semi slicks on the rear, never have had any trouble with the cops up here.

I actually find tyre wear on them is as good as any other tyre.. not sure why. My thoughts are that they grip better, therefore they spin less before gripping.. the spinning is what wears the tyres usually on normal road tyres(??). But of course, depends which tyre they are.

Gordon, if they have been used a bit but never cornered hard (or only occasionally) then the heat cycles will reduce the durometer (softness) dramatically. So they will still be good, but not as sticky when push comes to hot lap

The ones I have now will do a few track events and then be toast due to the exceptionally high durometer, but I intend to do most of the next track day on standard road rubber, then throw these on for a session or two to attack the best lap time I can.
