boj01
Talking of taxis, why do you think all the taxis are Ford Falcons not Holden Commodores? Falcons are much more reliable. I recently got rid of a DR30 and am now in a 2004 BA Falcon. Couldn't be happier with my choice as the car is 22 years newer, has a new car warranty and all modern interior gadgetry. The 4L engine displaces 182kw standard and even though it is powering a 1600kg car, it has more than enough poke. I could have bought a R33 GTST or a well used R32 GTR for the same money, but you can only do the speed limit. Haysey
My mates dad spent $50+grand on a GT-P falcon... Orange... 310kw.... massive twin exhausts....$5000 carbon bonnet made by ford... dropped to the shit.... leather..... black gtp rims.... stripes down the side.... 310 stickers on bonnet bulge.... and an AWESOME exhaust note when that thing is being revved.... i LOVE that thing and would take it over any skyline..... prob gets more attention than just about any other car on the road..... hes looking at getting a carbon V8 supercar wing too..... dont knock it till u try it.... so whos up for joy rides and some whip lash :F Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/79926-awd-falcon-turbo/page/2/#findComment-1458792 Share on other sites
Guest Mashrock
i have a few mates who have the new fords as their daile drivers. and when i sit in them or drive the cars i am just so uncomfortable. there is something wrong with them.. no matter how much i adjust position it does not change. and just driving them in general is scary, bad noises comming out of both of their steering racks when you turn the wheel. "clunk clunk" and their cars go back to ford all the time to get their servaces. yet still are buckets of shit. they may have that bit of umfp, but there is no point in having the power if your not comfortable to use it. 2fardown
Mashrock: I would take my XR6 Turbo anyday over your 15 year old thrasher (nice wing too by the way) . I also have no trouble at all being comfortable in my electric leather seat. How much do you spend maintaing that thing anyway? I've lost count of the amount of threads I've read with oil pump issues, gearbox, hicas, "My 15 year old GTR is blowing smoke"..... I would bet $100 that you have had more problems with it than I have with my XR. It puts a smile on my face when I can stomp on the loud peddle and feel the instant torque it producers. It all comes down to personal preference. At the end of the day when I do give my car a hiding I'm not afraid of it blowing up due to the engine being in a tired state. Guest Mashrock
i've spent around about 30k on it including buying the car. no problems as yet. tho it is dew for a servace and a bit of the old oil change and a good check up. maybe the odd cv boot, but thats just normal.... i do step doqwn on the peddle and i do feel the torque right away and all the way to 9000rpm. you must love it when some smart jap spends upwards of 90k on your car, and you purchace it for lower than a 1/3 of the price which he'd spend on mods. etc.... mick34
: I would take my XR6 Turbo anyday over your 15 year old thrasher QUOTE]obviously you have never driven in an R32 gtr...15 yrs old or not the refinement and technology is still far superior to your ford. oh and I would bet you $1000 that Mashrocks "15 year old Thrasher" would tear your xr6 a new A hole on the track, street and strip :uh-huh: . slow13dude
Back to a civilized argument: I'm quite happy for Ford to spend money developing turbo cars, because it means that there is a presence and a market for such cars. With Nissan and Toyota pulling up stumps on turbo cars, Ford's (and Subaru's) efforts mean that the presence and development of turbo engines continues. Guest Mashrock
but ford holden etc still do not build a race spec car. they are all family sedans which are ment for people moving. with maybe a bit of performance in mind. but then again i guess there isnt really a big enough market here in australia for anything along them lines.. and with v8 supercars sucking all the money out of motorsport in australia whats is there to do, there is no money anywhere else. and it sucks... pack of wankers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/79926-awd-falcon-turbo/page/2/#findComment-1459700 Share on other sites

I would bet $100 that you have had more problems with it than I have with my XR. At the end of the day when I do give my car a hiding I'm not afraid of it blowing up due to the engine being in a tired state. First of all, XR6T's are great because they are built by an Australian car company. I have a new opinion of Ford since they brought out this car. Someone in Ford was thinking. However I've read many articles from journalists saying the manual gearboxes are crap, and i've heard a lot more people complaining about problems their brand new XR6T have given them.. and the cars are barely a few years old! I've read quite a few threads even on this board about owners having major problems with cars still under Warranty. Second of all, leather is terrible up here in QLD and electric seats are for softies Of course 15 year old GTR's will have problems.. but I can tell you that most of them are still running on the original gearbox and engine. My car is stock standard.. still running on the same engine, clutch and gearbox as it was 16 years ago, my mechanic says its going great and if I leave it unmodified theres still heaps of life left in her. It's tight and has no rattles and has driven a whopping 179,000kms. I drive it (read: Really drive it hard) a couple of times a week up Mt Nebo and it is a very healthy, happy car. I'm not being a smart ass, its a geniune question.. How many 12 second cars have Ford made out of the box that can stand the test of time? Sumo
How many GTR's with no mods could still run 12 seconds. I think that the GTR may of been better engineered, but its still old. Panels rust, interiors fade/perish, seats wear, engines eventually give up the ghost. I wouldn't like to see a GTR I own being used as a daily driver. I would still like a GTR to keep in my shed at home - preferably a R33 or R34 GTR. But costs are prohibative, to have a car decreasing in value in the shed for a weekend car. Cheers Matt Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/79926-awd-falcon-turbo/page/2/#findComment-1460044 Share on other sites
Mr 350Z
Guys, seriously, this topic is getting old. End of the day, you are comparing 2 cars from totally different categories. 2 door sports VS 4 door sports sedan. To make it worse, some of you are even throwing in GTR's into the equations, 100K + cars compared to 50K. Ive always been a skyline fan, but seriously, some of you guys act as if the skyline is the only performance car on the market.....lets get realistic. Both cars have their advantages and disadvantages for that matter, but end of the day, bother are awsome cars (oh, and i would trade my ford in for a R34 GTR any day.....just to set the record straight lol) Mick34, If i was a betting man, id almost take you up on your bet. Obviously you havent been in, or raced against a modded XR6 Turbo. They can be very quick if the right mods are done, dont underestimate them.
