This is unusual.

A mate of mine had this happen to his XG ute on the weekend.

The belt snapped, after going 200 m up the road after giving it some WD40, and we cant work out whether it was becase the belt was too tight, or if the alternator seazed up. Best to get a mechanic, or someone with a hella good knowledge to check it out

check the belt tension. Most likely the other belts - i.e not the timing belt. Even if they didnt replace them to get to the timing belt you have to remove all the others.

I Mine were making heaps of noise till I tightened them up. he one that goes around the alternator needed to be fairly tight, compared to how I had it anyway.

i would suggest that your belts arn't quite tight enough, this often causes the squeeling noise. otherwise spray a small amount of CRC/WD40/RP7 stuff onto the belts whilst running...this will get rid of the noise....if it returns the belts need a bit more tensioning.

Cheers
