RB30 Oil Pump

Hey people,

My mums oil pump in her R31 has packed up.

She got a quote from Nissan for a new 1 and they reckon it will cost $1000 to replace.

I got 2 questions 1 is the VL oil pump a direct replacement???

$1000 sounds very expensive is it right or should I be albe to get it cheaper?

What other options can I give my mum, she just weants it fixed but not to pay an arm and a leg for it.

Yes and no, i havent done one myself, but either way the k frame and sump have to be removed leaving the engine in the car, or the engine has to be removed... to change it, so there is a fair bit of labour involved...

Id say 1000 bucks is a fair price mate.

$80 for an aftermarket pump.

The labour is to pull the belts off the front of the motor, & the harmonic balancer....then reinstall it all...

i'm in Canberra and well it's pretty bad to say the least because i've rung 5 places and they all say nope we haven't got any.

Also they quoted $1000 just for the part no labour included so that's why I thought it was a bit steep.

Places here in Adelaide like Sprint, Repco..etc. Cant remember what brand it was i used....

Just tell em you are looking for an aftermarket pump.

ask at holden for a rb30 oil pump...there will be a cheaper price difference in the quote
