Information needed on RB30 engine

Hey people,

My mums oil pump in her R31 has packed up.

She got a quote from Nissan for a new 1 and they reckon it will cost $1000 to replace.

I got 2 questions 1 is the VL oil pump a direct replacement???

$1000 sounds very expensive is it right or should I be able to get it cheaper?

What other options can I give my mum, she doesn't want to get rid of her skyline,

Any information would be appreciated.

$1000 for a ancient genuine part could well be right. I'm sure there are a 1000 RB30 oil pumps in canberra. Try all the Jap wreckers first before going a newbie.
