Scratch + dent..

I recently was on bridge road to pay my parking fine. I parked the car, went in and paid and when i came out about 10 mins later there was a deep n long scratch from the fuel cap till the rear lights. I reckon some guy in a jeep or sth scraped my car when he was parking or something. I was cut as and when i went to a panel beater the guy told me it would cost about 500. I reckon thats quite pricey.. What do u guys think? n should i fix it? Im quite tight on cash now and i was thinking of just putting some paint on top of the scratch to prevent it from rusting. What do u guys think i should do? thanks in advance

I'd put $500 towards performance mods personally :( But my car is battered like that and needs a full respray which I won't ever afford heh heh.

If it bothers you do what Method said and shop around. Even bullshit if you have to "this bloke said less" and be prepared to walk away till you find the place that feels good and gives you a good price.

I would also consider asking in the Vic section for recommendations because good panel beaters are a hit and miss affair so you want someone that won't have your car for 2months then not colour match the repairs properly.

Bad luck on the hit - better luck next time :P

brush a bit of paint onto any exposed bare metal in the scratch to prevent it rusting, that should work as a temporary fix until you save some cash and figure which panel shop will do the best job/price. :P

Try www.chipsaway.com.au - they're pretty bloody good, and a lot less than panel beaters. Took care of 2 NASTY key marks on my car. I think they charge about $150-$200 per panel and they come to you.

I know a few other people that have been pretty happy with their work too.

Sorry to hear about it, but good luck :O
