Well i just got back from the automatic transmission mechanic. He told me that when he took the pan off of my car that it was full of metal shaving, that it had propably thrown a bearing, or that something had disintigrated, and i had better start saving my pennies, blah blah blah.

All i heard was time to stick in a nice lovely 5 speed manual.

My only prob is i would not have a clue on where to start and where to go.

So please feel free to give me all your wonderful advice.

If there is anything south or west of brisbane (Ipswich or Browns Plains way) that would be good.

For Cefiro rb20de.

cool...

well i am just getting the parts for my manual conversion.. so far i have clutch (to be reconditioned), pressure plate, gearbox, lightened flywheel, manual tailshaft, manual cross member, master cylinder, some metal line bits with a box that goes from master cylinder to slave cylinder, pedals.. there is the pretty in cabin stuff but that can be done later. I think that is most of it, although I still need a trust bearing, and clutch fork. Maybe some basic wiring as well?

It seems to fit together as a complete system so I am pretty sure that is all you need. Cost me $700 so far for just the bits but you should budget around $1000 to do it (with rb20det box that is). I'm going to write up a full guide with photos when I change it all over, as there isn't one on here, and there should be..

    • It just depends if you're like me with a high level of OCD for doing something like hardlines, and highly critical of the little things, and then bugger all patience to get it how my brain pictures it
    • More than happy with the colour match Talking to the painter he recommended to give the top a few weeks for the paint to 100% cure prior to sealing it with the ceramic stuff Also, because why not..... I have a fancy pants Fluidampr harmonic balancer on order, the 2.5 engine uses the OEM 2.0 balancer off the old motor as the 2.5 balancer is a larger unit and doesn't fit clearance wise, which, because the two engines have different harmonics, isn't optimal, the OEM balancer does the job, but as the gear driven balancer in the bottom end is removed to fit a RWD application there is slightly more vibration, the Fluidampr helps with the harmonics that the gear driven balancer once took care of,  basically makes life easier on the oil pump and bearings when thrashing it around Hopefully the weather gets better soon because I'm keen for some cruising around, and currently, with the winds and storms we are getting, the amount of detritus being blown around from trees on the road isn't something I want to be driving around in
