Rb20 running rough

:Pimp2: just picked up a r32gtst. It has a mystery misfire in it. What makes it so mysterious is it went away when I diconnected the battery(and reset the ECU). The misfire then returned when I turned the engine off and refired it. After this I am in the process of looking at the ignition system ,coil packs etc-i know they crack and spark can jump.

Anyone got any other clues or also had this problem?

Think it is a dud coil pack and only shows up when hot

Yeah same.

The pack works when the motor is cold, as soon as it heats up it goes on the blink.

There is a guy on ebay based in SA selling coil packs for around 30 bucks each

It could be the ignitor module itself. They seem prone to breaking down when hot.

Do the test:

Disconnect and reconnect each pack individually while its misfiring. The misfire shoud get worse on each cylinder until you find one that doesn't make a difference, that's the dud one.

The ignitor CAN fail but the pack is more common, especially for R32s.
