Sorry for going off-topic but mods feel free to kill this.

Maybe the buyers should cop some of the blame as well when that farker was selling "Walbro" for $145 but it's about $30-40 (20-30%) more from some reputable place. I too have done a search and doesnt looks like he even posted any pics. No pics is a bad sign IMO...

Such is Life!

Im not saying what happened is right...its completely unethical....i doubt this bloke even has a conscience...but these things happen and sometimes you cant really put anything in place to prevent it as blitz has said. Its a pity though when u cant even trust your fellow man in such dealings.

But i spose if i was caught out and i knew where he lived....id prob be in jail as a consequence.

Nick, since the topic has swung this way, is it fair to suggest that the for sale section be modified for sellers to meet certain criteria in their profile. I know it's extra effort, and you guys all have a tough enough job but consider the following:

Before you can sell you must have a valid name and address and telephone number. These are hidden in your profile and are available to admins.

When a buyer makes an offer that is accepted they are given access for a short period to the sellers details (by the seller through a clicky button) in order to satisfy themselves that the seller is legitimate. This can be done by the buyer by taking the name and address and searching the white pages to ensure the home number given is a match. The buyer should call to ascertain a bogus address has not been used. Sellers must give a legitimate landline number to be able to meet this criteria.

It will be up to the buyers to ensure they check for legitimate details, as any old garbage can be entered just to allow a check to be passed for an ad to be posted. Only dodgy dealers have anything to hide from. Buyers have to give postal details for goods to be mailed so why not have sellers do the same. Essentially you remian anonymous until you allow someone to look at the hidden detail for a limited period of time.

I know there will be some tricky work to make this kind of thing happen, and I'm disgusted that there are scum that make us consider these measures, but this forum is too good to stop the trading just because of them. Just have a think about it and talk to the other mods. I think there may ne some value in the concept. I would be willing to do it. Traders will of course use their business details.

Cheers

Geoff

You work hard for your money and then get pricks like Cefiro_PWA who have no morals or ethics and just rip ppl off, it's seriously low! I just hope this guy gets caught soon and refund's all the money taken from hard working ppl for falsely advertised and cheap immitation products

you may blame the buyers, thats thats a piss poor copout

No, I don't think that's a fair criticism. This place isn't run as a trading site, its run as a forum for knowledge sharing which happens to have a trading function for the convenience of its members. Its an "addon", not the core of the forums.

Insofar as they can, I think the mods do a great job keeping the crap to a minimum: if you want a counter example, go an have a browse at NissanSilvia.

For what its worth I think it sucks you got ripped off. However, I don't think its unreasonable to place a large emphasis on the end purchaser to cautious. As I said in an earlier post, a quick look at Cefiro_PWA's is quite revealing.

Geoff: Damn straight, this is similar to what we are thinking.

Its now at the stage where anyone who posts a for sale thread that does not meet the rules, will have it deleted without warning.

There is no excuse for failing to read our rules, which are there to protect the interests of all forum members.

I am about to make further amendments to the rules so stay tuned

Hey think about what you are saying , hindsight is a wonder full thing!

Well done Geoff !

Blitz i commend you on taking an active and responsible role as a member and mediator.

I appreciate the extra work, but this is a bloody good forum and we as active participants appreciate all that is done to bring it together, keep it up and lets make it harder for the dishonest person to operate in trust situations, for it's people like this that "stuff it for all the good people in society.

The worms mobile # is 0432616833, i have spoken to him , he has acknowledged these threads in relation to his antics but pleads innocents, his name is Alex and he will use other names. He has promised to resolve the problem but as expected nothing has occured.

I still believe he is operating on this forum under another fabricated identity.

Be carefull fellas.

With all due respect I actually havnt been ripped off. I just dont agree with the attitude that the buyers are to blame when they are ripped off

Granted, they should take care.

Granted, Sau is not a trading site.

Granted, Admin cant keep tabs on everyone.

Its just unfortunate that this is happening to fellow skyline/performance car enthusiasts.

My question now is, if this guy is mines datsun etc, why hasnt he been tracked down. That clown was also well known, surely someone knows something?

I think most of you guys have took my words out of context. All I was trying to question is can't the buyers be a bit more careful? I know sometimes theres wool in front of your eyes when you wanted something badly, maybe it's cool to stand back a bit to think things thru.

This is probably what it shouldve read: "Granted, they should take care." (thanks teejay)

Did the buyers taken much care? Surely digging up some of his post might revealed what kind of character theyre dealing with.

One thing I do believe is, majority of people on SAU are honest blokes. Like that one time when I've sold something via COD, I have farked up the COD form and the guy actually got the part for peanut as I forgot to put down how much to remit back to the seller. I didn't realised that until weeks later so I contacted the guy and told him the situation, within half an hour I got screen capture of the bank transfer. 2 days later the money is there.

I don't think anyone sure is this guy actually is Alex. One thing I am certain he is the pump_king aka Martin as he PM'ed me over something and the e-mail address he gave me is exactly the same as Cefiro_PWA's bank account name. On the other hand, Alex is known to buy cars from time to time for resale (so he dont deal with J-Spec anymore?) He PM'ed me wondering do I have cars or parts to sell....and that's typically Alex's behaviour I gathered. Why isn't he busted by now? Maybe his parents is a bit like Quoc's by paying the victims back to keep things quiet?

Mini 2 ,

please PM and provide all detailes that you have including his bank detailes as i am involving authorities and need as much info as possible . thanx

I assume this is directed to me.

Nowhere have I even suggested that buyers are to "blame". My point was that given SAU is essentially a free not for profit service that is staffed by volunteers, it is entirely unrealistic to expect SAU to be able to provide a completely safe environment for trading. Look at Ebay: even though it has massive resources it still can't provide a safe trading environment.

That is not to say that every effort should be made (although again one must realise that moderators have lives/jobs and do this out of good will).

Given it is simply impossible to provide a perfect trading environmet I figure we either don't have a classifieds at all or we have one where buyer caution must be emphasised.

:werd:

via legitimate screening.... It will get to the point, where only those that have traded previously, and have an established presence on this forum for 12 months or more will be freely traded with, but hey, I'm not complaining :)

I have been able to contact Alex a.k.a Cefiro_PWA and after a long chat he still claims the pumps he sold are genuine Walbro, he says that he is a major supplier of Walbro pumps in melbourne to many performance car garages. He told me to ring Simon at NTperformance.com that would confirm they are genuine and are not copies. Has anyone actually tested one of the pumps sold by Cefiro_PWA to check if they have an accurate flow rating of 255l/hr ???

The trading post on PGA has recently changed so it can only be utilised as a selling point by members who are donators to the site, have been a member for a minimum 28days and contributed to the forums with X number of useful posts.

Yes i have , and they do not!

They are the made in China copies, and until proven other wise they will remain with that understanding. I am not jeopardising my engine with a non genuine item.

Walbro,s come with ID.

Ask him what cut off pressure do they have or do they just sit there and burn out.

Call his so called contacts and find out if they have legitimate business in regard to mechanical upgrades etc , and then ask about the pumps that have been installed , surely he has some contacts of HAPPY clients for you to contact!

Have you wrung NT Performance?

I would love to be totally wrong about these pumps.

I spoke to him and he said that he prove to me that the pumps were genuine, and of course he did not send me any thing to ratify this .

Told you he was a smooth talker.

If anyone has any queries over my legitimacy in this affair, feel free to PM me and we can discuss it.

It's hard to tell if you are implying that I am Cefiro_PWA, feel free to compare my post history to his, you'll find that the two of us have quite different ways of writing.

Everyone who I trade with receives my full name, mobile number, bank account details. and everything I ship has a return address, and also a Tax Invoice.

-Tim K

(also all the pumps I sell have "WALBRO" and model numbers and PAT numbers stamped on them)

    • That is correct. I'm using a modified ABS ring and a ZF speed sensor on my rear diff for speed input. I'm running a Haltech ecu.
    • Been busy with the newborn. We originally thought we were going to go for a third, but we're good with two lol. He's starting to actually sleep now so I've had some energy to work on the car. It's been parked away in the garage since late November due to winter.  I went ahead and redid all my head oil drains. I originally had my front and rear head drain going into the same pipe but have since split them up. I also added an Ethanol content sensor to get ready to run E85 this summer. Tossed it on my return line. Sensor sits nicely under my intake manifold.    I also have a lot of parts that came in for my rear end. I'll be swapping over to a 3.3 final drive and doing the GK teck anti squat mod. While the rear subframe is off, I'll also change every bushing. We're planning on buying another house soon with the condition that I get at a minimum a 2 door garage, so I'll wait to have more room for this. Now onto the strange things that recently happened... After changing the lower rad hose (It had been sitting in my cabinet for well over a year and was the last hose I had to replace), I let the car idle in the garage to bleed my coolant. After running for a few minutes, it started missing. Got much worst within a minute or two and then stalled and would not restart. My crank sensor decided to crap itself. No damage, no explanation, just died. I went ahead and replaced it with another ZF sensor but the heavier duty stainless model with a shield. Tossed that in and started right up. Has anyone else seen this? I hate when things fail without cause. Luckily this was a blessing in disguise... This lead me to recheck my timing. It seems I may have had a beer or two the last time I had set my TDC angle as I was off exactly 5 degrees... I miscounted a line haha. I was running 5 degrees less then commanded. It's a little embarrassing but helps explain why my dyno operator seemed to think I should be making more then 478rwkws.
    • Sharing results from recent Liberty Walk R35 GTR, since they are still considered as somesort of a V36 Skyline. We do them turbos too. This are high flowed SS-1 models with ball bearing conversion done.  Car have managed to pull 485awkws @ 20Psi so far pushing limitations of factory built engine. The build list for R35 GTR enthusiasts as follow : HyperGear high flowed stock turbos in SS1 (G25-660 specs) Custom titanium intake pipes. Vspec performance titanium front pipes. Vspec performance 4" titanium exhaust. Upgrade fuel pumps. 1200cc injectors. Ignition coilpacks Hks intake plenum. Hks intercooler piping. Greddy intercooler. Greddy bovs. Top-secret coolant reservoir. Emtron ecu. Straight E85. Built gear box.
    • Nah no bearings, just slip fit.  Would be a reasonably challenging but not impossible job to modify it to run bearings but I'm hoping that's not necessary as I may have well built one myself if I end up spending hours modifying it!
    • Brumbys with good shells are bloody expensive, I've looked at 2 "cheaper" cars, and walked away from both,  plus after some research spare parts are fairly sparce I'm starting to think that I missed the boat on finding a clean one that is straight (ish) and without alot rust I'm starting to think about a old Hilux as panels and other parts are much more available as they sold tens of thousands of them I use to be indecisive but now I'm not sure
