I rang the transport department and they said i needed to get Personal Import Plates and Modification Plates, and there should be a set of 3 papers (samedocument 3 copies) which 1 bein addressed to Nandra (or something like that), but problem is my importer said that he hasnt heard of Nandra.

Help is needed and muchly appreciated :)

so you car is being complianced in sydney?

as far as i am aware they will provide engineers papers but these only work for rta in nsw.

once complianced, you will need to get an engineers report up here as well i think???

Anyone else confirm?

Who is doing the compliance for you ? Why complie it in nsw ?

The raw should provide you with everything you need including a blue slip . ( my raw did , so i would think they all do )

You take everything to the rta + a CTP + your cash for rego , about $240 in your case , + $30 or so for a number plate + 3% for stamp duty and they should give you an interim rego . They will ask you to take it to another rta to do a numbers check and when everything is ok they will send you your rego sticker in the mail .

You can drive with the interim rego in the meantime .

All the above is correct for NSW , check with your states rules , it may or may not differ .

Why did your car get off at Sydney?

I'm sure there are RAWS in and around Brisbane that can compliance R33's.

If I was you I'd have it transported up here and complianced in Qld. It will be an un-necessary extra cost but at least you'll be able to see the car for real.

Who is your import broker? You should ask them as well.

Reggie.

Reason y it was shipped to sydney as thats where my importer gets them shipped to, it was either there or melbourne.

car is in getting steam cleaned for any diseases n such (ourside of car only)

I'm getting it all done by Husnu and Feridun from Allblitz, they have been very helpful so far, good blokes too

i will just have to ring up the transport department again and write down everything i need to have, then Husnu should be more than happy to get wats necessary done for me

ok let us know how you go.

but yeah at this stage i would rego it in nsw seems you are getting it complied there.

then when you get round to it change rego over to qld...

is that legal though? registering the car in nsw then changing it over in say 6 months (when the rego runs out)?

yeah of course.

i cant see why u cant rego it down there for now, and then change over in a couple of months.

(as long as you have an addy in nsw)

cause that compliance will only include a nsw engineers cert?

in qld you would need a qld one and a qld mod plate i think....

dude dont waste your money geting a blue slip in sydney if you dont have to.

also a blue slip wont be taken in QLD they do RWC's (road worthy certificate).

once you have the car complied you wont need an enginers cert or mod plate just compliance plate that will be fitted to your car you then take your car to any mechanic in QLD that can do RWC's get it approved then go to QLD transport and pay for rego with your RWC in hand.

hope that helps

thanks mate that's made it nice and clear now :P

now all i have to do is wait.....

what he said.. you should just need to get a QLD RWC and the modplate can be from nsw.. as otherwise everybody who transferred their cars interstate would have to get it recomplied locally, which isn't what happens.

I registered my fresh import myself about 6 months ago up here.. so painful to find out the correct procedures, but you'll get there.

I thought when complianced you get an Engineers Cert as well?

And that is only good for the state it is complianced in?

So if complianced in Sydney, it will be a NSW only engineers certificate?

So when you come up to qld, you would need, QLD RWC, mod plate, and engineers cert?

Where as if you did happen to get all that nsw stuff (which you will if its being complied down there) you might as well use it?

ie rego car in nsw, then drive it up here, then rerego it all you will need is rwc up here?

or am i seeing this wrong?

mick

The main plate says that it meets all ADR's current for 1989 or whatever year, so I assume that is what remains valid through state transfers as ADR is of course "australian design rules". The other plate you can get is for any other modifications, which can be a little state dependent, so maybe that is the one that would not remain valid.

I've sold imported cars to NSW, the buyer have never needed to get a new modplate. And I think my old R33 had a compliance plate issued in NSW.

yeah ok that sounds intresting.

its just i keep hearing the words engineers report / engineers certificate.

and when you transferring rego you dont have to get anything like that.

like you say just rwc.

Im just not sure if when you have a car to be regoed first time you need an engineers cert for you current state that they will give you at the compliance centre?

as my R32GTR is down there being complianced this week.

And i was going to rego down there then drive it back up here....

but i am confused too, not sure if thats needed now.

What you're saying makes sense but rego from another state doesn't count in NSW so I'm assuming it's the same in other states.

When you get a car from out of state registered in NSW you need a blue slip, which is the same as if your car was never registered.

Nothing stops you driving a car registered in another state though for a while..

You are meant to change the rego over in 2 weeks or something silly up here, not many people do.. and with rego up to nearly $700 a year up here, no wonder

You screwed yourself by using an importer in another state.

You should have imported it yourself or at least used a local broker to get it delivered and complianced locally.

You had to pay more to use a broker and now your have to pay more to get it delivered to where you live.

Why?
