Im looking at buying an 93 r32 gts. But 1 thing im worried about is the clutch rattles. It doesn't rattle when the pedal is pushed in but when relaesed it starts to rattle, quite noticeably when cold. When the car warms up, however, the rattle is a lot quieter. The guy said a mechanic friend of his said that it was a bearing or something, didn't really understand, and that it would be fixed with a clutch kit, for about $300. He said it had been like that since he imported it 2.5 years ago but has slowly gotten louder and reckons you could drive it for another 2 years without it being a major problem.

Just wondering if anyone knows what this might be and if what this guy is saying is correct or Bull?

Sounds like the thrust bearing has had better days. I've had the same rattle noise in my R33 for the last 3 years and some days it's loud, some days not quite so loud. My clutch still works as it should so I dont think you'll have any issues with it just yet. When you go to replace the clutch you should get a new one with the clutch kit.

You never know, it might be a twin plate clutch. They tend to rattle away.

same thing on my r33. it rattles since day 1 the hd clutch went in about 2 years ago. still driving, no problem. it's said it's the thrust bearing that does it, but if it's not break yet, dun think it worth the $ to rip it apart and replace the little bugger.
