Now.... I had a little blat with a R31 a few nights ago. And got a little bit Depressed. Now ive been in many r31's and my R30 feels a hell of alot quicker and definitly gets up to 100k Quicker.

This r31 was near stock. Just a exhasut and it was Auto.

No gain, No pulling. Even.

Now my l20et has, a Large FMIc, 600hp Fuel pump, Rebuilt Head, a rb20det turbo. DEemissiond, Huge intake mods. and im running 8psi. which i know is low.

On my old setup smaller fmic, same fuel pump ect, but my old turbo, o got 109rwkw and 350nm of torque, In pricibal ive only seen rb30e's do 102rwkw mark.

So..... Im confused

You sure that thats all it had done to it??? Im pretty sure last 31 i went in wasn't that quick hey...

by the sound of it is never a good indiciation

when my r31 was first boosted it had the stock exhuast it was quieter than a hyundai excel.

the car could of had n/a work, multi-throttles aftermarket ecu, cam etc. thing is, u never really know what the other guy has got.

i remember the look on a xr6 ba p-platers face....

i understand where you are comming from, But this car looked factory, Auto, Factory mags. Standard height, lol. And a droopy exhasut muffler.

It was a Young guy driving. It just amazed me in how my car feels so much quicker than a r31 to only be as "fast" as a r1 rb30e. The r30 coupe is alot lighter. :D

Nick my r31 used to haul ass and i had done was put on a podfilter, remapped ecu, extractors and a more free flowing exhaust. WHen dynoed It was putting out 75kw at the rear wheels with 500Nm Torque which isnt much kw but alot of torque and it was extremely loud!

Keep in mind what other people have said about the mods, for all you know that R31 Could've had a Rb30 Block with a DOHC head and a huge turbo....so yeah. I know what u mean tho its kinda gutting when you find out your L20et isnt that fast. My mates twin 45mm sidedrafted 2l cortina is even with my car...

depending on r31 model the power figures range quite a bit, anywhere from 80rwkw- 120rwkws in N/A form, don't be dishartened as alot of r31 boys like to keep thier cars very stock looking. theres a thread on a 308 TT powered r31 at the moment that still runs the stock silo wheels.

Just to throw a spanner in your thoughts, I have a mate that had a VL Turbo Exec, the turbo badge was taken off and stock VN Calais mags fitted, and to the naked eye, it looked like a VL Exec with Calais Wheels until anyone wanted to have a go.

To quote a well known line, "NEVER under estimate your oponent, always expect the unexpected"

Cheers,

good and valid point, Note taken :), the imagae of the large amount of flames comming out the exhaust told me otherwise that it isnt stock.

Ive been tweaking my Air/fuel adjustments and gained alot of mid range torque. Still running ritch at crusing thorottle possion's so more tweaking will gain me alot more power i presume

+ Rb25det fuel requaltors make a nice upgrade. I noted mine made the system run Mega lean just under 0 Manifold pressure and made a flat spot in eccal. Installing it, Well its run's ritcher and the fuel delivery on boosting up is alot better.

Not i am taking all this off a Air/fuel Guage and a new NGK o2 sensor. gives very stable readings.

hell yeah!, any turbo work or a intercooler makes a HUGE diffrence.

i wish i had a dyno sheet's to show you what diffrence it makes

Will the bigger turbo & intercooler support a 3 inch system now! without causing power loss problems. Dump pipe back???

Cheers.

    • @soviet_merlin Thanks mate!  Nothing too major but will hold me up for a while. I've got lymphomas to get taken off the back of my neck and the middle of my spine which always conjures scary thoughts!  It sounds worse than it is. Yeah great, conjuring more rabbit hole deepening , just what I need! 🤣
    • I'd argue the F50 kit I got is very good value. For ~2k I got the calipers (refurbed condition), adapters, pads, brake lines, rotors, and top hats. I think you'd be pretty hard to get Evo/GTR/350z brembos + the additional hardware for similar money. Used market for a pair of front calipers alone I've seen tend to run anywhere from $1500-2000 depending on condition.    That said, something like a GTR or 350z brembo is a lot easier to adapt to the Silvia.
    • Is there a significant price difference between the Evo/gtr/350z brembos vs the F50? Looks amazing.
    • I was actually being a tightarse at the time LOL... My OCD is tickling me into running a 2nd 8AN Teflon hose all the way down and removing the 2x OEM hardlines. My other side of my brain is telling me to run 2x hardlines front to back (also acts as a fuel cooler, so win win).
    • As I mentioned in an earlier post, I had some trouble with the Silvia's brakes dragging back in 2023. I managed to sort it out then, but the same problem came back to bite me late last year. Just take a look at the picture – I had a feeling the handbrake was acting up again, and I was right. Anyway, I'd been wanting to upgrade to bigger brakes for a while. Not that the Silvia's brakes were bad, but it was more of a "want" than a "need", you know? It was funny, though – at the time, I couldn't find any Evo Brembos, 350Z Brembos, or GTR Brembos for a decent price (of course, tons of them popped up online after I already bought my kit!). I ended up going with an F50 Brembo kit, which came with adapters, brake lines, 330mm rotors, and top hats. The F50 Brembo caliper was used in a few other cars too, like the FPV. I also decided this was the perfect opportunity to ditch the Silvia's ridiculous rear brakes and that awful handbrake (some of you were definitely right about that!). I picked up some R33 calipers and all the necessary bits – rear drums, backing plates, and new hardware to refurbish the calipers. Of course, it wouldn't be a project without a few hiccups. Turns out the brake master cylinder was playing up and basically (to put it simply) keeping the brakes engaged. I had it overhauled, and after some adjustments, everything was working again. The whole process took a while, as you can imagine. To top it off, the front right wheel bearings were shot and needed replacing too. This is a rare occasion where I'm posting an update while it's all still fresh! These pictures were taken just this afternoon.
