Hi All.

I had an awsome day on Sunday, and a big thanks to all the organisers and SAU people.

I was surprised to beat Malcom,s awsome Nismo R33GTSt, but very happy I won.

*Does anyone have any pics of my car MPH459, my pics didn't turn out that good.

Thanks.

Thanks for the kind words but just so it is clear my car is in no way sponsored and never has been. It has been my hard work that has paid for it. I just don't like the idea of people thinking its a sponsored car when it isn't and i've worked hard to get it. Although i can't give Advan enough credit for the awsome job they did on it.

Back on topic  :)  Looking forward to an even bigger and better show next year  :D

I stand corrected - fair enough it's a nice car too :D

I think I saw a card with the mods listed and a few advan stickers parked with a couple of other advan cars and I just assumed - sorry no offense intended.

:)

Id also like to agree that the s14 that picked up best non skyline should have not also picked up best engine bay (rb26 or not), Id also like to agree that does this mean that it also should have picked up a best gtr as well ?!?!?

Maybe a proposal for next year with regard to this trophy may be that there is a "Best non-Skyline Engine Bay" and a "Best Skyline Engine Bay" trophy.... or the category be re-named to "Best Skyline Engine Bay".... its all about letting the committee know what you liked and what might work better for all next year, it can only get better that way :)

I think given this years numbers and the shows growth rate, it may be a possibilty to increase the number of categories to include Skyline and non Skyline awards..... but this is obviously up to the organisers :)

I did a rough, back of the coaster calculation on the day - and I reckon there was close to $3Million ($3,000,000.00) worth of Skyline at the show on Sunday -

That's a lot of Skyline :D :D

I would say a fair bit more than that actually.... 100 cars makes them only worth $30k on average each working it out at that value. A few cars, such as GRACER and the 34GTR's, would cost at least 6 figures to build or buy

What a fantastic idea - I think that with a possible 100+ cars entering next year that the event could afford to spread the love about more by having at least 30 categories to help ensure that most of the cars entered were appropriately considered for their often unique and original attributes - this will also help to ensure a friendly and sportsmans like atmoshere as the event grows and that the focus of the day is on all of the various cars entered and the individual tastes and influences of their owners - cheers Malcolm.

I think another one mentioned several times would be "Best Skyline Factory example"! This will cater for the non modified original cars.

I'll second this idea! Not that I'll be in the running for that category, though,LOL!

I like those ideas of having more categories, and I am by no means discounting them at this stage... the only problem with more categories is the time it takes to judge, collate and award them.

Do you guys have suggestions on how we can streamline this process, I understand that this is a slightly difficult question as your not totally in the know with the way judging was done this year, but any suggestion is a good one.

Cheers,

Dan.

I would make the judging easier my grouping the cars.

For example when the cars were being parked. R34 GTR's are located all together, R34 GTT etc etc. This will allow catagory by catagory to be done quickly. The sub total of exterior etc etc can then be pulled out.

I think this will also allow people to get some great pics as well

majanal, i agree

idea for next year people:

BEST R31 GX

BEST R31 GXE

BEST R31 EXECUTIVE

BEST R31 SILHOUETTE Series 1/2

BEST R31 SILHOUETTE Series 3

BEST R31 TI Series 1/2

BEST R31 TI Series 3

BEST HR31 GTS

BEST HR31 GTS-X

BEST HR31 GTS-R

BEST HR31 GIBSON MOTORSPORT RACECAR

that should make everyone happy.

Thanks Oz, that is what I was thinking... will require more parking attendants, and also for prizes to be awarded throughout the day hopefully.

Keep the suggestions coming, unfortunatly I don't have any T-Shirts to hand out... but you will get the Respect!

(and to the guys that asked me to come back with some shirts for comments, I didn't forget, just got busy counting, and when I looked up everyone had moved there cars onto the parking area and I had lost you.)

    • Hey @Butters, did you end up getting this clutch in ? I have just ordered to a uniclutch track to go in my getrag 6 speed that’s in my BNR 32
    • I know you don't want to hear this comment, but I can't not say it.  I just can't see 200kw being worth the time and effort. Its like guys with NA cars, putting in headers/exhaust/tune for a massive 20% jump in power. Great, the slow car is still slow and you're down $10,000.  My vote is leave it NA or price in a gearbox upgrade and shoot for at least 300KW, preferably 350KW+.  Now you have a NC that will try to kill you from time to time and will be exciting to drive
    • Ah yep. The main message I want to pass on is, try not to get scared of ghosts when thinking about knock/knock detection.  What I mean is, healthy engines make noise. Knock is also noise. Your knock sensor and ECU combo are trying to determine bad noise from good noise based on how loud the noise is. The factory knock sensors and ECU are not good at doing this.  Modern ECU's are pretty decent at it, however I'd still say that you would want to verify that if your ECU says it's knock, that you actually listen to it and confirm that it is correct.  Are you familiar with the plex knock monitor?  https://www.plex-tuning.com/products/plex-knock-monitor-v3/ I expect you're the type of person that would be very keen to play with something like this. It is great knock detection and you can pop some headphones on and listen to what's going on.  Knock that you've deliberately induced in low load low RPM areas is not really putting anything at risk and is a great tuning/learning/verification tool.  I just thought this was worth mentioning based on the way you were talking about setting up a base map and the Haltech base map settings. There are better ways to spend your time then chasing ghosts and worrying about detonation in scenarios that it is crazy unlikely to encounter it.  I was also wondering, what ECU are you planning to get? Will it be long til you pick it up?
    • This came quicker than I thought. It ain't even 2025 yet.
    • I somehow quoted my post instead of editing it. I regret nothing.
