1) lots of money for fuel. Cost me heaps about $350 only got about 400k per tank, and i wound the boost down too.

2) cds the more the better

3) navigator/DJ to read maps and change CD's (you dont really need a map to get there so easy just follow the 1)

4)lots of beer, for the passangers of course.

5)on a seriours note plan for a stop some where say every time you fill up get out walk around/swap drivers other wise you are in danger of killing someone from lack of conitration.

maybe consider getting an exhaust shop to put in a reducer plate on ur exhaust if u r driving for that long, mine is ridiculous after 2 hours to syd, u can hear ur ears trying to counter adjust to the noise, would hate to tihnk what it'd be like after 13 hours

other then that food, water, and a 1000000 cds

would fly up than hire a car, probably cost you less + the number of k's.. geesh..

as for driving, yeah - someone else who can drive as well is a good plan, also stopping every couple of hours 3 or so is good..

and also - good luck - drive safely.. personally i'd fly.. but that's me..

The record without going all out is 8 hours... :D That should keep you nice and busy to stay awake.

But yeah, lots to drink. If you feel sleepy, pull over every 60-30mins. Stop, have a power nap. A 15min sleep will do wonders. Thats it mostly, just do not fall asleep, pull over. It is a long long straight bit of road. Pulling over 3 times more than someone else does not make you any less of a man or anything. It just keeps you alive longer.

Oh, and skittles, starburst, anything with lots of sugar ;)

Very True.

I did the drive from Toowoomba to central coast NSW in my vl with the gf and it was hard enough only having myself as the licenced driver. I made it 8 hours and needed to sleep, slept for 2 hours and when i woke up i was going extremely good.

you should also try getting some ******Gurarna***** and take them as it keeps you awake for ages, but time it in so that when it dies down you are prepared to go to sleep :cooldance

GL matey

How NOT to do it:

Leave 10pm at night

Boil coolant 2 hours later.

Continue to boil coolant every 100kms.

Almost hit a roo bigger than your car.

Drive all night.

Drink 8 red bull.

Arrive at destination 3pm next afternoon.

5 months later realise the coolant was boiling because of a cracked head.

I had a 2 hour nap just as the sun came up... it did wonders.

Ah the joys of a trip to schoolies in my old ET pulsar!!

The record without going all out is 8 hours... :P That should keep you nice and busy to stay awake.

Fastest i know is 6.5hrs Sydney to Toowoomba but that was a middle aged man in one of Australia's fastest street cars equiped with a radar detector about 8 years ago :warning:

I did the return trip Gold Coast to Sydney at the end of last year by myself. Around 900km so add 70km to Brisbane. I had glandular fever at the time so lots of breaks is a must plus lots of CDs, you go through them quicker than you think!

My parents did an overnight drive to Newcastle a few weeks ago. Hit 1 roo and got 2 speeding fines, so take it easy or it could be a very expensive trip!

just get a shit load of speed.... just kidding

no doze or gurana tabs

ive got a mate who's done it from melb to toowoomba in one go with no sleep... 15 hrs just pump tunes that wake u up like tekkez or sumfin like that not somthing that will put u to sleep

just get a shit load of speed....

Trust me.. doesn't do you much good.. after a hectic night out drove from byron to sydney.. believe me - i was micro sleeping the whole way home - this was a while ago - i don't do any of that anymore..

be driving.. blink................ 200m down the road open eyes.. not good..

    • Hey @Butters, did you end up getting this clutch in ? I have just ordered to a uniclutch track to go in my getrag 6 speed that’s in my BNR 32
    • I know you don't want to hear this comment, but I can't not say it.  I just can't see 200kw being worth the time and effort. Its like guys with NA cars, putting in headers/exhaust/tune for a massive 20% jump in power. Great, the slow car is still slow and you're down $10,000.  My vote is leave it NA or price in a gearbox upgrade and shoot for at least 300KW, preferably 350KW+.  Now you have a NC that will try to kill you from time to time and will be exciting to drive
    • Ah yep. The main message I want to pass on is, try not to get scared of ghosts when thinking about knock/knock detection.  What I mean is, healthy engines make noise. Knock is also noise. Your knock sensor and ECU combo are trying to determine bad noise from good noise based on how loud the noise is. The factory knock sensors and ECU are not good at doing this.  Modern ECU's are pretty decent at it, however I'd still say that you would want to verify that if your ECU says it's knock, that you actually listen to it and confirm that it is correct.  Are you familiar with the plex knock monitor?  https://www.plex-tuning.com/products/plex-knock-monitor-v3/ I expect you're the type of person that would be very keen to play with something like this. It is great knock detection and you can pop some headphones on and listen to what's going on.  Knock that you've deliberately induced in low load low RPM areas is not really putting anything at risk and is a great tuning/learning/verification tool.  I just thought this was worth mentioning based on the way you were talking about setting up a base map and the Haltech base map settings. There are better ways to spend your time then chasing ghosts and worrying about detonation in scenarios that it is crazy unlikely to encounter it.  I was also wondering, what ECU are you planning to get? Will it be long til you pick it up?
    • This came quicker than I thought. It ain't even 2025 yet.
    • I somehow quoted my post instead of editing it. I regret nothing.
