when my car gets hot or i give it a fair amount of boost, the 4WD warning light comes on....it will go off if i let the car cool down for 45 minutes or an hour. I read somewhere that this means my power steering fluid is boiling as the fluid is too low, however i just topped it up this morning and, no change....and that includes the rear reservoir too.

sorry if this has been discussed before, but i cant find it?

thanks

It's definitely been discussed before. If the fluid level is OK, then you may have an air bubble or similar in the ATTESSA system (the one in the boot / trunk; the steering fluid affects HICAS).

You also need to have the ignition ON when you check / top-up the 4WD reservoir. You can fill with Dextron III or similar.

this has been a sporatic problem over the last month or so. When the car is 'cold' in the morning the 4WD light stays OFF, until i drive it hard in a low gear. When the car has heated up, the probability of this light coming ON along with the power loss, increases.

i tried to bleed the screw mounted on the rear of the transmission, at first, no fluid came out, second attempt (after restarting), some fluid came out, third attempt it came out in a larger volume. i will try jacking the car up tommorrow to attempt the pump bleeder.

any ideas on running new fluid throughout the system?

Example

1. Filling reservoir 2" too full

2. Turning ignition to ON position

3. Opening Pump mounted bleeder screw. (until fresh fluid comes out)

4. Close bleeder

.....5. Repeat procedure for transmission mounted bleeder

the service manual doesnt have the order of operations

I greatly appreciate the input guys! (Blind_Elk and Steve)
