Is Apexi N1 cat-back exhaust a good bargain at $700+ mark new? (not incl shipping tho) Will it be very loud as I wanna try to keep noise down, hopefully it does come with a silencer....

I saw other system will start at around $1100+ new... was thinkin to get the Trust PE II but at $1300 a lot pricier than N1. But UAS told me Trust is not as noisy as Apexi.... or maybe I should just get a locally built one...

i had a 3" exhaust custom made and it was cr#p. It wasn't mandrel beent and it was as loud as hell. Now i've got a jasma catback exhaust and it's alot quieter and the car is alot more responsive than with the custom made one. I'd say go with the brand name exhaust if you can afford it as your not only paying for the exhaust, your also paying for the development behind it. i was lucky enough to pick up a brand name for cheaper than i paid for the custom made exhaust ($900)

I have the Apexi N1 cat back exhaust on my car and it is not too bad. Seemed quite loud at first after driving a car with a stock muffler for so long, but after a day I was loving it. Only thing I have noticed is that there is a bit of a drone around 2200-2800RPM but the exhaust place said they could get this out with a different resonator.

If you buy a new one then it should come with the little silencer insert which drops the noise a bit more. I bought mine second hand for $600 so your price for a new one is pretty good.

cat cack exhausts r a waste of time, the most restrictive part of the exhaust is the cat itself!

your exhaust is only as big as the smallest part of it!

so if u got a 4inch cat back system and stock 2 inch front pipes, your system is basically a 2 inch system cause all the restrictions r where the smallest part is!:shake:

Nope Prank, it's Matt's car I believed ;) and he said he wants royalty for the pics.... hehehe

I haven't got any digi-cam at the moment so can't take the pic of my real car. However my bro just got one, so after exam tomorrow I'll try to find time to wash my car, then find a location I can quickly take a snapshot of my car and use it as my own original avatar :)

I'll give credit to matt until that happens... ;)

cheers

    • There's a thread over on PF.com where this has already been beaten to death. I make this point only because the report that you're referring to is already out of date. They have walked back some of the silliness, including the need to apply for (and risk losing the application fee, if not granted) a permit to work on your own car on your own land. But there is still a lot of silliness left remaining. Victoria is a f**king shithole. Has been since way before we started calling it Brackistan. f**king nimby woke Stalinist nightmare of a place.
    • I’ll go last point, For me it’s, can I do better relying on the expertise of u experts in the field but my point was, is there a way and a will to sticky important tried/true/tested facts that come out of a question relating to each area of improvement. I mean like not losing valuable info when u end up relying on google without success. Some times. I just see so much knowledge being passed but unless u are a guru or lucky, the diamonds end up hidden in our forum sorry guys I’ll leave it at that respect

    • What the actual f**k is this about?  https://www.carexpert.com.au/car-news/this-australian-city-wants-to-charge-people-to-work-on-their-cars A $400+ permit, every 3 months, to work on your own car?  Tell him he's dreaming.
    • I did a bit of googling, the color MCM used was Galaxy Grey from House of Kolor. This is actually a colour I picked out about ~10+ years ago (or more). This one is a stock BMW colour, I guess over the years I figured it was smart to get an OEM colour that was pretty common for all of those sensible reasons one can think of..
