Hey guys, I've been reading these forums for a while now (great source of information) and I just wanted to get a few answers regarding the RB20DET.

1. I am doing an RB20DET conversion in my s13 Silvia very soon (going from CA18DE) and I just wanted to know what maintenence should I do to the engine when I get it? How long should I stay off boost for, what speed should I stay under, what would need replacing etc?

2. What is it's fuel capacity?

3. In terms of mods, I am looking at doing the exhaust first (3 inch turbo back, high flow cat etc) then doing the boost and FMIC. Is this a good start or should I go a different route all together.

Thanks in advance.

Any reason why you aren't going the SR20DET route? That would keep the balance of the car better than a heavy RB20. Maintenence is just like any other car. I change my oil every month, but I drift pretty hardcore. When you put the engine in get a new fuel filter, change the transmission oil, diff oil, spark plugs, and air filter. Fuel capacity is based on the size of the gas tank not the engine. Mods sound good. Basic upgrades are intake, exhaust, fmic, clutch, boost controller, piggy back ecu, rb25 turbo, lsd, etc.

i am in the process of doing the same conversion... i suggest doing the heater hoses... because in the s13 chassis they are a bitch to get too... do it while the motor is out of the car...

but same as above... change all the servicable items new fuel filter, change the transmission oil, diff oil, spark plugs, air filter etc

you will need to mod your power steer lines and pump (unless you get a non hicas p/s pump)...

but some more info would be a good start...

also..while u have the crossmember out....grab a die grinder and extend the engine mount slots down about 1" roughly or as far as you can go in the designated area. That will fix any height issues you might have when the motor is in and the bonnet wont close.

also...change timing belt and water pump regardless of km's or what condition you may think the motor is in.

also you may have to check injectors....some people get them flow tested and cleaned or just replace them with other direct bolt in ones like gtr injectors or ca injectors even certain rx7 injectors are usable i believe.
