I am very interested in purchasing a bonnet however a few questions first:

1. How did they all get broken? Isn't carbon fibre supposed to be very durable and hard to tear/break?

2. Does this breakage compromise the stability of the bonnet?

3. Why do you need to purchase gtr hinges for the bonnet fit onto a gtst? Isn't the only difference between a gtst and gtr front-end the pumped goards, rb26dett and ancillaries for 4wd?

4. Why are ALL of them broken in similar positions?

5. What is the brown marks on the first bonnet, are they scratches? Why are they brown?

6. It appears that on some of the pictures you have used a blurring tool with a photo editing program (i.e photoshop), is this correct? If so, what are you blurring?

7. The bonnets all appear to be exactly the same style, why the dramatic changes in price for very similar damage?

8. where are you located, and how do you propose delivery?

Sorry if the questions seem silly, I am unexperienced with CF. If you could let me know the answers to the questions that would be great!.

1. How did they all get broken? Isn't carbon fibre supposed to be very durable and hard to tear/break?

please refer to this thread for reference

the bonnets were damaged in transit. mishandled. i tried to get claimed but failed. i was holding them as proof but my claims was denied.

anything is breakable even your skyline! i guess it meet a lof impact when handled. trust me its not pretty when it arrived.

2. Does this breakage compromise the stability of the bonnet?

with proper repairing using firberglass repair kit and reinforcing the ribbing with fiberglass you should be able to get you full 100% stability back. it is a simple job and simple tool to use. many people in bodykit industry should tell you is a an easy job to repair especially bonnet 2 and bonnet 3.

3. Why do you need to purchase gtr hinges for the bonnet fit onto a gtst? Isn't the only difference between a gtst and gtr front-end the pumped goards, rb26dett and ancillaries for 4wd?

you are incorrect im afraid. we tried to fit on a gtst before and the hinges and latches does not match. the bonnet are of the same shape and fit perfectly but the position of the holes on each side of the hinges are different and so is the latch. other than that is perfect alignment. however i must say that this is just a theory at the moment. never been proven before. my comment is based on one time effort to put on in a gtst

4. Why are ALL of them broken in similar positions?

becos they are mishandled in similar fashion hence it is damaged in similar way.

5. What is the brown marks on the first bonnet, are they scratches? Why are they brown?

there is no scratches on any of the bonnets. one bonnet no 1, they are like some defect due to mishandling. the underlying clear coat has given way. it is not a bad thing. it is visible on some angle but if you on the car horizontally, you cant even see it unless you are at some near distance. i have decided to take this pictures to show all the defects and not want to hide anything.

6. It appears that on some of the pictures you have used a blurring tool with a photo editing program (i.e photoshop), is this correct? If so, what are you blurring?

i take the photo as it is. no editing what so ever. i have been an honest seller everywhere i go.

this is the screen-shot of the traders rating. i am sure you will find me to be an honest seller. :P

7. The bonnets all appear to be exactly the same style, why the dramatic changes in price for very similar damage?

bonnet 1, has the most damaged among the 3. cracks and some clear coat issue which is not visible when you put it on.

bonnet 2 has very minor damage, slight hairline crack1

bonnet 3 has minor damage, 2 minimal crack as shown in the pics

8. where are you located, and how do you propose delivery?

im in sydney. i prefer if people can pick up in sydney. if interstate, i am happy to deliver it at extra $95.00. i cant afford to foot for the fee as i am already losing money for them. howver, i prefer that you arrange your own transport company and i will be more than happy to corporate with you.

Sorry if the questions seem silly, I am unexperienced with CF. If you could let me know the answers to the questions that would be great!.

No worries! all question answered! :)

    • There is a LOT of stuff that can be done, it all depends on how much time and money you want to spend on doing in.  Not all ECUs will be able to do it, and the more control you need the more time and knowledge needs to be put into making it work.  If you're willing to spend the time and money and have the right hardware and skills involved there's a lot that can be done.
    • I am impressed with all this level of adjustment. I didn't expect all this possibility
    • Correct.  In the case of the 500kw dyno plot I showed you the car actually runs two boost control solenoids for boost control and a 5psi wastegate spring.  It allows me to control how much boost pressure is applied to both sides of the wastegate valve at any point and fairly accurately control boost target as a result. I've tuned it so that it's able to target anywhere from 5psi to 25psi depending on what's needed.  The target tables I've set up in that car are Gear vs RPM, so every gear has potential for a different boost (and torque) curve.   First and second gear have quite low boost targets, third gear actually has different target boost all the way through the rpm range as it's a stock RB25 gearbox - the boost targets have been chosen to maintain a peak of 600nm (what the owner has set as the maximum torque he's happy with putting through the stock 3rd gear) but it carries that to the rev limiter.   The boost curve to achieve that is something of a ramp up, then hold, then ramp up again and the power curve looks more like a flat line haha.
    • so you can decrease or increase the boost depending on the diet as you wish?     by acting on the wastegate?
    • That's torque and power, it's all from a single run.  The boost curve is "held back" from it's peak target in the 3500rpm to 5000rpm range from memory, so it ramps hard to something like 18psi then climbs more progressively to 23psi nearer 5000rpm.   It makes the torque (and power) ramp more "natural" and less hard on parts and traction, it doesn't feel artificially held back.
