I think most of you miss the point, would you waste money on an even that wasn't being supported by the public?

they can get 10,000 people to look at a glorified "carpark" over two days.....and no-one wants to see actual cars racing...what is wrong with this country....in the states its the other way around.....and i thought "septics" were strange

The problem is the lack of public support. In the WA round we had 150+ entrants, but I reckon we'd have been lucky to get 3000 spectators. You do the maths, it's not ever going to happen if it's not better supported. The top fuellers always get 10-15,000 people:(

they are more interested in putting on a show eh, can't understand that they can get 10,000 people to look at a glorified "carpark" over two days.....and no-one wants to see actual cars racing...what is wrong with this country....in the states its the other way around.....and i thought "septics" were strange

i have heard they CABIN lost $200k over the last two years from their drag combat events, and thats why they are pulling out.

these events should be about racing, not titty comps and sound offs. it annoyed the piss out of me sitting in the cab of a car in 35 degree heat, in a fire proof suit and being told you cant get out of the car we are about to start once the titty comps over, had to sit there for 40 mins in the heat.

titties are for strip clubs and DJ's are for night clubs, not a race meeting.

Shane.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the comments above. No matter how much effort an organiser puts on, its the public that will ultimately make or break an event. They are the ones who will provide the return on the eventholder's (and sponsors') investment. The past events havent been the best, but that is expected for such a new enterprise.

As for competitor numbers, I see better fields at some Wednesday night Street meets. If half of the competitive cars in Sydney alone turned up it will be one hell of a competitor list. What these events rely on is actual consistent and competitive drag racing so that the fans actually want to attend. Then there are the sponsors who invest in such events, but will only do so if they get the return on their investment. Without the public, this wont happen. Its a bit of a vicious cycle, but that is the nature of this beast.

Another important factor has been the teething problems associated with setting up and formalising the rules and format for SC.

I sincerely hope that SC drag racing will only get bigger and better.

They knew their financial position well before commiting to 3 rounds of a national series. Dogs.

Its like starting a new business.....if all businesses pulled the plug cause they lost money in the first year of trading, the only businesses still running would be drug dealing and brothels!!

I spoke to Jason from ANDRA about getting Sport Compact to Perth, and the news is not all bad.

Hey fear not amigo - I GUARANTEE YOU THAT SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN IN WA!

I hope to have something settled with either Ray Box - Jambo QLD or Ray

Treasure - Quit

Either way I will not forget or leave out the WA Sport Compact faithful.

Now go forth and spread the word on all the forums!  I give you permission

to use this email as proof we (ANDRA) WILL!  Be doing something.

The announcement will be very soon.

Cheers for now

    • What could be causing my clutch problem besides a bad master or slave then? Both those parts are new
    • Just came across this, but in QLD I start leave again in 2 weeks, if it is still available I might drive up and check it out Unless, @MBS206 do you live near here????, if so I could hit you up with a finders fee https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/hope-island/auto-body-parts/nc-mx5-factory-hard-top/1328976391
    • My hold point for future mods is that I want a OEM detachable hard top first, but, finding one is a pain, MX5 Mania are looking for one for me, but, as hens teeth are more common, finding one in Australia is proving problematic  I can get a OEM one from overseas, hell, you can still get new ones in 'Merica, but, shipping is a absolute killer and I cannot justify the cost, or the risk of it being damaged during transport As for the aftermarket hardtops, whilst they do the job of being a hard top, and are fine for a track car, they don't seal well (read: leak like a sieve in the rain), and you need a plastic/poly rear window, plus they are a bolt in option only and not made to be easily removed I liked how the hard top on my NB could be fitted, and removed, by myself, in less than 5 minutes I know it sounds bad, but I'm waiting for someone to write off a car with one so I can swoop in on their pain, it will go to a good home though, so my guilt of this is tempered
    • I’ve got one on mine and it’s fine,
    • No, you don't want to plug the vacuum line, as that will turn that side of the booster into an air spring and probably make it feel worse. I'm not saying that the GTR master itself doesn't need a booster. I haven't paid attention to the GTR one to know what size it is cf the non-GTR ones. But when you think about it - they have to do the same job, which is to move a little slave piston a few mm to do what it is supposed to do, and that final action is the same on all the cars. So, it is very unlikely that the GTR MC is any different than the others, because it has the same pedal stroke and the same output requirement. The booster just makes it feel easier. I'd suggest you probably have an actual hydraulic problem. It's totally common on these old shitboxes.
