PFC HELP reward offered possibly alcoholic (If that is your thing)

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I am trying to find out if the PFC is compatible with my A-LSD on my R33 GTS-T. I have searched the treads and come up with no conclusion, It works for some and not for others . So does any one with a PFC want to come to my place (or me to yours) and plug their PFC into my car and see if I get a LSD error or not, I really want to put this issue to bed! As stated earlier reward offered :uh-huh: Thanks guys!

my brother has the same problem. We tried on the weekend, series 1 r33 gtst with ALSD, plugged a brand new PFC in and the pfc wont communicate with an alsd, switches to fault mode and will only spin one wheel. Your best option would be to get an emanage, as its a piggy back system. any questions feel free to pm me.

Yeah this is my whole problem Many peoples dont work but Erins works fine  So I want to see if I am one of the lucky ones or if I will have to go to the emanage/Profec e-01 combo

Andrew, it's ben covered recenly in NSW. Moanie and a few others tried it and it won't work.

Sorry for the bad news mate. I don't know how Erin got by though.

Yeah I was talking to moanie a bit the other day. I read that tread and the fault seemed to range from noting at all, to light on occasionally but diff working, to diff open wheeling . That is why I want to give it a go on mine and see what happens. I might be one of the lucky ones. I dont want to fork out the cash for one only to have to try and sell it the same day I get it as it doesnt work. I am seriously thinking about Emanage instead of experimenting just to save some stuffing around!

I've been advised not to remove the computer from my car anyway... for different reasons.

But I would say at this point in time, order it and take the car to Gav to have it fitted. Ultimately it's up to you, but if he can get mine and others working, I doubt he'd have an issue with yours :P

A-LSD is a Active limited slip differetial. It is computer controled as opposed to the normal methods. You will know if you have one cause when you start the car two orange lights will light up. One says A-LSD the other says slip.

Personally I'd turf out the old ALSD diff, and get a standard one put in. Plenty of people writing off their R33 lately, shouldn't be too hard to find for $500 or so, maybe less.

I know this seems a bit extreme, but I'd rather be spending a bit more and running full aftermarket management such as proven PowerFC, than just an e-manage. Depends what your goals are for the car.. just a bit more power, or ready for aftermarket turbo, etc later on.

    • Hey I get it. Definitely sounds exciting, but not for me, there is almost no V10 or 12 that I really like. I don't like big engines with high cylinder count. V8s would probably be where I draw the line of "which engine would you use". Specifically an LS7 is a favorite of mine, or the 5.2 Voodoo by Ford.
    • But V12 Skyline. Like, I'm In!   Stay Tuned in the USA are jamming a V12 into a Foxbody at the moment... Just the sound of V10 or V12 is worth that adventure!
    • To put it in perspective; there is just one tuner shop that sells a single turbo kit for the RB26, at least publicly in their shop. Maybe one or two others can offer you a setup if you inquire, but I am not sure. That turbo kit is 16k in parts alone (high quality ones, but still). By the time it's installed, tuned and legalized expect it to cost 25k+. And then you still didn't take into account for any special wishes. I can't imagine legalizing an LS swap for example to be any cheaper. And if you want to legally raise power output by more than 40% of the highest-powered OEM variant of any specific car you'd have to do stress testing on a race track for 2000km. Wildly out of perspective cost and effort wise, especially for just one vehicle. But if you got too much money, I guess you could do it.
    • Yeah, I understand that TÜV is a bitch, but.... cost is not an issue when talking about putting a massive NA (or possibly large + turbo'd) V engine into a Skyline. We do it because it is fun. If mine was a project car and not a daily, I'd be finding some massive engine to put in it. Possibly one of the Toyota V12s that they make into monsters in New Zealand. Engineering is not cheap and easy here either (although definitely easier and cheaper than in Der Vaterland). But anything is possible, and 7L is better than ~2.5L, by about 200%.
