PFC HELP reward offered possibly alcoholic (If that is your thing)

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I am trying to find out if the PFC is compatible with my A-LSD on my R33 GTS-T. I have searched the treads and come up with no conclusion, It works for some and not for others . So does any one with a PFC want to come to my place (or me to yours) and plug their PFC into my car and see if I get a LSD error or not, I really want to put this issue to bed! As stated earlier reward offered :uh-huh: Thanks guys!

my brother has the same problem. We tried on the weekend, series 1 r33 gtst with ALSD, plugged a brand new PFC in and the pfc wont communicate with an alsd, switches to fault mode and will only spin one wheel. Your best option would be to get an emanage, as its a piggy back system. any questions feel free to pm me.

Yeah this is my whole problem Many peoples dont work but Erins works fine  So I want to see if I am one of the lucky ones or if I will have to go to the emanage/Profec e-01 combo

Andrew, it's ben covered recenly in NSW. Moanie and a few others tried it and it won't work.

Sorry for the bad news mate. I don't know how Erin got by though.

Yeah I was talking to moanie a bit the other day. I read that tread and the fault seemed to range from noting at all, to light on occasionally but diff working, to diff open wheeling . That is why I want to give it a go on mine and see what happens. I might be one of the lucky ones. I dont want to fork out the cash for one only to have to try and sell it the same day I get it as it doesnt work. I am seriously thinking about Emanage instead of experimenting just to save some stuffing around!

I've been advised not to remove the computer from my car anyway... for different reasons.

But I would say at this point in time, order it and take the car to Gav to have it fitted. Ultimately it's up to you, but if he can get mine and others working, I doubt he'd have an issue with yours :P

A-LSD is a Active limited slip differetial. It is computer controled as opposed to the normal methods. You will know if you have one cause when you start the car two orange lights will light up. One says A-LSD the other says slip.

Personally I'd turf out the old ALSD diff, and get a standard one put in. Plenty of people writing off their R33 lately, shouldn't be too hard to find for $500 or so, maybe less.

I know this seems a bit extreme, but I'd rather be spending a bit more and running full aftermarket management such as proven PowerFC, than just an e-manage. Depends what your goals are for the car.. just a bit more power, or ready for aftermarket turbo, etc later on.

    • I’m doing some side developments on SR20det S13 engines, its one my hobby cars used it to compare flow capacity of some smaller size wheels. SR20det is one of another JDM legendary engines I'm sure there are plenty of SR enthusiasts on this forum, I will share results some common turbo configurations here. a quick run down of what the car is: Wide body 180sx Type X with black top engine (blue). It has: Stock bottom end Haltech 1500 ECU 5-0 motorsports trigger kit Kelford SR20DET Beehive Spring with Titanium Retainers Kelford Cams SR20DET S13 188-B 268/272 Cams G25-660 Turbocharger in T2 .64 rear housing internally gated ARP Head studs MLS head gasket 1000CC ID injectors Walbro 450L Fuel pump Front mount cooler kit JJR’s 3 inches turbo back exhaust (its too short for the 180sx it had to be extended) Pump 98 fuel Hub Dyno tune So far made 270rwkws at 22psi full boost by 4500RPM. Engine is very knock limited hence a pretty bad looking top end. From previous experiences it seems like SR20dets are happier with bigger size turbine, some thing like a GT30 would make way better top end, but on same time response is lost. It won't be a problem with S15 VCT engines. I'll be testing alternative turbine housing, turbine wheel and possibly dump pipe options for extra flow to resolve the problem and of course E85 would resolve all the issues.
    • Awesome writeup and details. Thanks for sharing the story so far. I can relate to parts of it with my previous car and some of the issues I had to deal with.
    • Wow the colour matched hard top completely transforms the car. Are there any nice front lip options for the car or is that off the table?
    • Generally yes but for some reason I've been ruthless this time around!  I might even need to do another tip run after the way I've finally been able to hit the delete button on shit I've stepped over, stepped around and tripped over for the past 10 years!
