Finally off to Japan tommorow!

Well i've finally got a fricken ride over to Japan with JET... so i'm headin off tommorow

quick question, wheres the cheapest electronic store to buy a nice DSLR camera in Tokyo? or would I be better off buying it out of Tokyo? I'll only be in Tokyo for 4 days, then off to Okayama.

Also.. does anyone know the law with personal imports? I just wanted to know; what's the longest period that you can be out of Japan without ruining your chances of importing a car under the personal import rules? Was hoping to go to Europe for a nice white xmas ^_^

yodabashi camera in shinkuku (they have two branches there) will probably be the cheapest. walk around to all the stores in shinjuku, then go back to yodabashi (with an idea of a cheap price) and bargain till you are happy.

akihabara is more expensive for cameras.

or go to akihabara, its an electonic heaven... but any big franchise should be pretty competitive with price...

and my understanding of the carprivate import is owning the car in japan for 1 year continuously... but ask rezz i think he is actually bringing his ride back...

id just go straight to one of the bigger shops in akihabara. akihabara is the tourist capital for eletronic shopping which means things arent always the cheapest but there are still some cheap things there ..... all places would be on a par eg a few 1000 up or down ..

Thx for the tips... Tokyo definately wasnt as cheap as i thought it would be with electronics. .. i'm in Okayama now and will head to kobe and osaka in a few weeks ... i'm told they're a heap cheaper there
