thanks chris,

i got his details off that tread, but im not sure about brant's short range on keyless entry...

does he install other alarms/immobilisers too???

also is it a big issue getting an alarm to work along side a tt, or is it no big deal at all????

cheers

I actually saw Alan this weekend: silly woman forgot her PIN number (after nine months of continuous use!?!?!) so Alan was nice enough to come out and reset it.

Anyhoo I had a bit of chat to him. He is in direct contact with the manufacture of Brant alarms so can still supply, support and warrant Brant stuff. And yes, he installs other gear.

IIRC the Brant hsas problems with one particularly brand of turbo timer but is fine with some others. Ask Alan, he will know.

Oh, and did I mention he is an absolute top bloke? :D Don't forget to mention your friends from SAU sent you :wavey:

Lucien.

I got a brant installed in my car last weekend - i was damn hungover.. - great guy as lwells said - took him about 3 hours to install it - everything works perfectly - still a couple of little things i'm learning - always check the red light - if it's on.. don't turn the ignition or people look at you while your alarm screams at you.. :D...

but yeah - did a great job - i've got a turbo timer - doesn't have any issues at all except if I arm it while tt is running - than disarm it - the engine is killed - not to sure only done it once..

as for the range - yeah it's crap however whys it matter - it auto arms if you walk away and forget to lock it - and unless your really need to open your car 50m away - it's not an issue..

anyways - give him a buzz..

Hey guys, anyone got any recommendations for quality security installers (mobile or shop) in or near the Sutherland Shire-Wollongong-Cambelltown kind of area.

I'm looking for some decent protection for my R32 GTR. Options are: alarm, 2+points immobiliser, GPS trackers, pager, screamers, alarm trip activated release on cage of taipans, large male gorilla named Thumpy chained to car, pager alarm with remote activated seat mounted spikes laced with Ebola. Now I know some of these are a little unrealistic(who puts GPS trackers in their cars???), but thieves these days.....

guys i called quicktrak in syd. and got quoted a heluva lot!!! lets just say it was upwards of $2k although this did include one years monitoring at $1/day

still i really dont know if i can justify this!

is this normal!!!

check out the ezitrak website..

pretty sure it's http://www.ezitrak.com/ - however this might not have coverage - which will be the biggest issue with a gps system in this country..

GPS will get coverage anywhere so long as you have line of sight to 3 civilian GPS satellites.

GSM coverage as long as you're in range of the mobile phone tower of your network.

You're thinking of quiktrak and limited coverage, as the GPS/GSM combination gives the greatest actual coverage. It's just underground that might fail it, whereas the radio frequency that QT uses may work.

Trade-offs everywhere :O

Yeah got the nemesis installed Sidd - only thing is this didn't come with a number of things - e.g. didn't have tilt sensor, auto window windup and remote boot release, everything else though..

Contact alan, he'll let you know what it's got..

    • My idle is set at 950rpm though - Moving the timing around 20 degrees is not really what I'd call a calm idle. That said... neither is chop, by definition. The LS ECU likes to adjust timing to hold idle as opposed to air. It'd work, but generally speaking there'd be a discrepancy in the base idle and the IACV would want to move the timing around anyway to maintain said idle. I think I'm just going to keep the timing steady anyway. Preserve my engine mounts.  My aircon is now officially regassed. As the guy was reversing I noticed my reverse lights do not operate, along with my reverse cam. This is a bit distressing, because 100% of guides talk about which wire to connect to backup cams as "the goes with the [other color] wire". Often when doing conversions. Unfortunately the R34 colour wires aren't documented Unfortunately I had a T56 Magnum gearbox with it's reverse switch, which also isn't documented. Unfortunately there's definitely not documentation for people with both of these in the one car. Unfortunately I forgot. After many hours of this, I have a reverse cam and reverse lights again. The wire going through the trans tunnel to the reverse switch had broken. Upon inspection, it looks like this one wire had about 7 spade terminals and extensions in it.. for reasons I cannot possibly comprehend. I also spent the 750 hours required to clean up the wiring behind my head unit which now looks like this: This is a monumental improvement relative to what used to be there WRT triple gauges, head unit, traction control, wideband controller, and whatever the f**k OEM stuff still exists there in various states of connectivity/needed. Next step is to check in at the Exhaust shop to see/confirm how much clearance I have, to decide what mid mufflers or 'resonators' (which are just straight through, narrower mufflers) I can add and hopefully cut out a lot of exhaust leaks, pinhole, v-band or otherwise. But first step will be to 'take a look' before the next step.
    • Fark the AFM card and Nistune, Haltech Nexus S3, DBW, cruise control, flex fuel, dis dat.
    • It's most likely the bolt/bush where the cover bolts back wore and allowed cover to move forward.
    • Still haven't put the injectors and R35 AFM in so we can tune the bloody thing for the HG highflow it got mid last year! I think I can forecast the upgrade path to a bigger twin scroll, external gate, Haltech, flex setup, Samsonas, dis dat, etc will be .... a while away!
    • Should have taken that opportunity to slot in a twin scroll turbo setup. Maybe next time.
