If 98 octane isn't available when you need to fill up -

on a country trip for example - should you use an octane booster or is it just a matter of driving conservatively to make sure that detonation doesn't occur?

If an octane booster is the way to go, which brands provide the best result?

My car is a stock R32 GTS-t.

when i drove from melbto brisbane i bought 3 bottles of nulon pro strength octane boost and was going to use them if i couldn't find 98-ron fuel

i found premium everywhere ;) but have used the octane boost since...

so that's what i would do if i were you

Warren.

PULP & Octane booster.

Car runs fins, no probs....dunno if its good or bad for the car though....

but yeah, WaZ is on to a good thing - just buy some pro-strength octane booster and keep it in the car....

I would restrain from using MMT containing octane booster like Nulons unless you really really need it. The MMT in that stuff coats your combustion chamber/spark plugs/turbine in orange deposits which is no good. Especially on the oxygen sensor! Next time you use the stuff, pull your spark plugs and you'll see what i mean...

I was told, it was better to get regular unleaded when using octane booster.

I can remember the chemistry behind it, but its all in how the additives boost octane levels, and regular unleaded has more of a type of chemical which these octane boosters require to boost it.

Be cool if someone could verify that.

I have been thinking it wouldn’t really matter as these octane boosters only step up and there’s a fair leap between 92ron Reg ULP to 96ron with PULP.
