Scratching the cylinder wall. The scratches have to be machined out. This increases the bore size. Then you need oversize rings for the pistons, unless the scratches are too deep, in which case you have bigger problems

the least you would want to do is:

Forged pistons, new rings and wrist pins : $1500

GTR conrods (checked etc) : $100-500

New N1 bearings: $500

New head gasket: $500

Then it depends on the wordshops labour and maching costs +- about $2000

Sorry about digging up an old thread here but Im facing the same dilemma with my car albeit R33 GTS-t

Ive got all the supporting mods and headwork but the bottom block needs rebuilding. Leakdown test showed 85% on Cylinder no 1 strangely enough.

Just wondering what you think my options are and what the cost involved are.

1. Sell my car the way it is (with about 10k worth of mods in it)

2. Drop in another motor and sell the car

3. Rebuild the motor

4. Find a rebuilt motor?

I was only after a bit over 250rwKw if I do go down the rebuild path.
