Hey guys and girls,

I haven't posted for a while but am down to the last stages, about to buy a Skyline(More specifically R32 GTS-t or GTS-4) from either Victoria or NSW.

Basically, I am about to buy a car but just wanted to suss out what I needed to do to get it rego'ed in ACT. I went to Dickson Motor Registry and the lady I spoke to said I needed a engineers certificate for all modifications done to the car(No matter what it was eg wheels etc), A road-worthy certificate and also proof of ownership. Is this correct as I haven't seen many other people post on here about engineering , except for those cases where major modifications were involved.

My main questions are:

1. How did you guys go about changing rego over from another state to ACT?

2. What mods it had when you bought it and did you need to get them engineered before rego would be passed?

3. Also for those who have their vehicles engineered, How much was it, what mods were engineered and where did you take it to get engineered?

Thanks in advance,

Nath

Has the car been registered before or is it a fresh import? If it was imported under the 15 year rule, you will need an engineer to sign off on the modifications performed to make it compliant with ADR's (assuming its never been rego'd). Otherwise, you should just be able to get it inspected, get a road worthy and take that into a govt shopfront.

again this topic arises.

and again, i'll tell you all my tale.

i bought my car from sydney, it had rego in NSW and was road worthy. i didnt have to take it over to dickson, cause it was over 10 years old (apparently cause of this i didnt have to take it dickson). i simply had it inspected and took the inspection slip to a shopfront and transferred it into my name.

being a 32 it is definately more than 10 yrs in age, i reckon you give this a try first, cause going to dickson is hell for any import.

When i rego'd my skyline, i was told i HAD to go to dickson because it was an import, but i didn't... all i did was go to a place in mitchel (pm me if you want the name) and they passed it no worries;) wrote me on a little peice of paper that it was road worthy for $25 or so, and went to the shop front and bang:) paid a nice amount of cash and she was registered:)

Dayne

what?!?!

thats awesome! did it fail? (stupid question, no need to answer, it answers itself).

So i bought the car and it had a rego check done Next door well they came to the work shop where i bought the car and stamped the papers
