hey guys need some help on this subject. as some of you know, i'm driving a gtr 33 and have gotten the following parts to install on my car when i come back to oz.

power fc, avc-r, nismo fuel regulator, hks front pipe and hks cam pulleys.

anyone knows of a respectable tuner who will not blow my engine while advancing the duration of my standard cams pls let me know. i need a tuner who knows what he is doing with a gtr so that i will be able to extract maximum hp with the mods i have.

thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure Gavin could do all this. I asked him one day if he could tune SAFC's and he said yes. He's always got numerous GTR's in his shed too.

I guess the best solution would be to ring Gavin and just ask him if he could fit all the stuff you want.

yea luke was telling me about gavin too. sorry but i do not have his contact details, could anyone help me out? also, he's on the coast rite? i'm kinda looking for someone in the brisbane city area. i know of only chapman n chapman who are good around skylines and would like to know if there are more mechanics who know their way around an rb26.

anyways thanks nismogirl for that info.

hey tze you could'v told us you are buying parts oversea right now... :P

I would't mind some defi-link gauges, only wish if they sell them at airports or near it as I'll be doing stop overs at singapore for few hrs middle of january. :P

as for adjustable cam pulleys, do some search on SDU there were threads about turbos shuffle even with stock rb26 turbos as soon as you change cam timings with pulleys, more to do with twin turbos and factory non balance pipe ex manifold designs.

Since you are mainly after ecu tuner with the cam pulleys/power fc probably see lachlan at chiptorque? As most of other things are bolt on which can be done fairly quick at most bris shops.

i'll be coming back to singapore every 6 mths n will be able to take your orders then. are you saying that advancing the cam timing would destroy the turbos? i don't understand what you meant by shuffle.

anyways, defi-link gauges are not cheap here either becos u need to buy the computer thingie that records the gauges' activity n plays them back. without the comp, the gauges won't work. anyway, let me noe wat u're looking at n i'll see if i can get some quotes.

    • I know you don't want to hear this comment, but I can't not say it.  I just can't see 200kw being worth the time and effort. Its like guys with NA cars, putting in headers/exhaust/tune for a massive 20% jump in power. Great, the slow car is still slow and you're down $10,000.  My vote is leave it NA or price in a gearbox upgrade and shoot for at least 300KW, preferably 350KW+.  Now you have a NC that will try to kill you from time to time and will be exciting to drive
    • Ah yep. The main message I want to pass on is, try not to get scared of ghosts when thinking about knock/knock detection.  What I mean is, healthy engines make noise. Knock is also noise. Your knock sensor and ECU combo are trying to determine bad noise from good noise based on how loud the noise is. The factory knock sensors and ECU are not good at doing this.  Modern ECU's are pretty decent at it, however I'd still say that you would want to verify that if your ECU says it's knock, that you actually listen to it and confirm that it is correct.  Are you familiar with the plex knock monitor?  https://www.plex-tuning.com/products/plex-knock-monitor-v3/ I expect you're the type of person that would be very keen to play with something like this. It is great knock detection and you can pop some headphones on and listen to what's going on.  Knock that you've deliberately induced in low load low RPM areas is not really putting anything at risk and is a great tuning/learning/verification tool.  I just thought this was worth mentioning based on the way you were talking about setting up a base map and the Haltech base map settings. There are better ways to spend your time then chasing ghosts and worrying about detonation in scenarios that it is crazy unlikely to encounter it.  I was also wondering, what ECU are you planning to get? Will it be long til you pick it up?
    • This came quicker than I thought. It ain't even 2025 yet.
    • I somehow quoted my post instead of editing it. I regret nothing.
